I've just ordered mine! I've been on the fence since the announcement, but after reading a ridiculous amount of reviews I've decided to bite the bullet and just go for it!
Just the base model gold for me, I'm not using it for anything 'heavy', just for Uni and browsing, some very light Illustrator and InDesign work. Shipping was 1-2 weeks when I ordered, so I'm looking at between 19 - 26 Aug for delivery

Nice one! Mine's changed to dispatched about 24 hours after it changed to preparing to shipOrdered the 1.3GHz on aug 5, today it is preparing for shipment. For how long did yours prepare for shipment? So eager to get it...
I also phoned up Apple about the back to school promotion as I ordered with education discount and I'm getting a free pair of beats shipped to me as well

You're welcome! They guy I spoke to was super nice and just processed another order, no hassle or anything. If you want the wireless solo2's, then it's an extra £100, so I just went for the normal solo2's in grey; I don't really use over-ear headphones that much so I didn't want to spend money on them unless I was actually going to use themThank you for the tip about the school promotion! Same experience here. I sorted my order out via Live Chat and was able to get the Beats sent after the rMacBook had been dispatched!
Guys ordered a standard Space Grey 1.1GHz MacBook with the free Beats on August 14th, Dispatched on August 17th with an original estimate of 1st - 7th September for delivery.
When it dispatched the Est. Delivery changed to August 25th. And told me that items were being merged in transit, I assume that is the Beats are meeting up with the MacBook and then being delivered out.
August 23rd it updated to Preparing handover to final carrier. However I have not yet received a Tracking number other than the 10 digit Deliver Number Apple give you, nor have I received any info about who the courier is.
The Delivery Number does not work with any courier I used previously. Syncreon, TNT, DPD, UPS, UK Mail etc. None of them seem to work.
Is it likely that the MacBook will arrive on the 25th? And when should I expect further information about my courier?

I've had exactly the same thing, I ordered my rMB with the adapter and they needed to be merged. Preparing handover to final carrier (or in transit to customer) do not imply the package is on it's final way to you. You'll receive a tracking no as soon as the final carrier actually has the package. I received my rMB one day before the estimated delivery date.
Okay I have now received further information saying "Delivery scheduled by final carrier, see estimated delivery date." With an estimated date of tomorrow (August 25th) So it looks like it will be here tomorrow!
Carrier is listed as syncreon, which in Northern Ireland is usually managed by UK Mail giving the parcel to a company called Nightline. However Sycnreon track has always worked for me in the past, currently it is not finding any information for my tracking number and Web order number.
I know tracking isn't essential but I do enjoy following my parcel, call me weird haha. Would I be right to assume Syncreon have only recently received the parcel and will be updated within a few hours?

Okay. Apple's web page has just updated Estimated Delivery with 26th August That sucks, I was hoping it would be tomorrow, and still no tracking available from Syncreon
