EVE is a masterpiece.
I have several accounts running this game since 2004.
Countess friends, meets, travel to Iceland, space nerds to RL friends and etc.
Game has a real life like economy and pretty much everything is player driven.
And best of it all it is very unforgiving. Losing everything is a common theme. If you like to be held by somebodies hand then look somewhere else.

Now not sure I will play it on a mac though but good for them for actually making a native mac client.

Hope to see more games support Metal + Apple Silicon. I imagine it will be quite a potent setup with the coming high end chips.

The first thing it wants to do is access my Documents folder. Not very trustworthy. Luckily macOS is safe in some ways and I can just decline.

That wine client was good stuff. Eve is a game that you play on max graphic at first but once you accept that its your new space job you just scale. The Mac Pro 6,1 ran 10 clients no issue.

It stores a lot of settings in that folder. Don't decline. You will glitch the client.

Wait a second - now it’sa monopoly? Developers always had the option to develop for other platforms or even build their own one 🥸😎🤣
Well, yeah, Microsoft has a monopoly on Windows, Surface… Zune… you’ll never see Dell Windows or Acer Surface because of that monopoly. :)

Awesome, this is the way to do things. M1 performance are quite incredible.

I think MMOs will be good for if I'm ever retired and/or disabled. If you just have gobs of time, it's a great way to kill it.

If you have anything that requires you to be responsible (job, family, school) it will eat away at it, if you play at anything more than a very casual level. It's a hobby that won't share you with much else. Be very careful. I got into EverQuest in high school and nearly ruined my life by the 2nd year of college. I was a bit extreme, but by no means a unique case. I tried to do WoW once I grew up and had a family, but how can you tell your family it's raid night, feed yourself?

eBayed my account(s) for a small fortune to cut myself off.

Unless you side load notorious alternate app store Steam and then open the flood gates for whatever malware ridden apps they might offer that apple cannot protect you from ):
That still wouldn't be side-loading. The Mac doesn't restrict you from installing anything, even if it's something stupid. It will warn you that you're being stupid, but it will still let you install it.

it really isn't side loading on a mobile device either it's just installing a program same as a computer. Side loading originally referred to offline data transfer between devices like using a memory card or computer to upload something to a mobile device

Good news. Maybe developers will start embracing Apple silicone. Maybe it will start with titles that can more likely bring large audience like mmos? Regardless, even though I just finished assembling a PC rig for gaming, the idea of gaming on MBP excites me to no end. It will be interesting to see how this goes for sure.

Been saying the same thing for as long as I can remember....Need a new laptop and going with a Windows one just because of my massive game library that I won't be able to utilize on a MBP

And now it doesn't mean that.

Far fewer programs will run properly if you don’t allow access to documents folder. Same for downloads folder.

Wonder how strong p2w this game is and how much automation it can be done. But this game alone won’t really attract game devs to develop games for Mac. If only we have a feature that can run iOS games on macOS. :(
PS: turns out it is super p2w heavy and apparently it takes a lot of time each day to play. Guess I’ll pass.
