No. PowerMacs like their own space and it's not a bed.

The PowerBook seems way too warm to use on a soft surface.

now that i use my desktop, it's less likely

i have dropped laptops before when i fell asleep

I usually take the G5 to bed with me. I'm surprised more people don't! Makes a great pillow! :D

I fall asleep with my MacBook Pro all the time. In fact, I did it last night xD. I wake up to find it on the floor most of the time. And then today I woke up with it still on my chest but I didn't realize it was there so I turned over and I heard a THUD noise. I turned around to see that it was on the floor again

Holy thread revival Batman! 9 years! On topic, my computer doesn't usually make it to the bedroom but I've been known to nod off while using it in the recliner. My tablet and phone usually make it to the bedroom as they charge on my nightstand.

Well, threads are sometimes like ghosts, or the memories of relationships and jobs past……..in that they can reappear rather unexpectedly, and, worse, they don't always disappear into the mists of time just because one may wish to banish them from one's active recall….

Constantly. I literally just woke up from a 15 minute nap with my laptop still on my stomach; thankfully, that's always how it goes. I sleep on a futon without a frame, so I'm about 3 inches from the ground. Consequently, I don't have any fears of dropping it, but rolling over it while it's face-down and snapping the screen hinges? Can't believe it hasn't happened yet.

I fall asleep with my phone every night. I usually lay in bed and watch something on Netflix until I fall asleep, or listen to podcasts as I drift off. I also use my phone as my daily alarm clock so I keep it on the bed next to my head (I really should get a night stand, lol).

It's happened to me fairly often when I've been sitting in my recliner working on something with my laptop in my lap and I doze off. Even though this is a nearly 10 year old thread, I can honestly say it's happened both with a Powerbook and with a Macbook Pro. The MBP is a lot cooler :) . Fortunately, I've never had an incident.

I find the phenomenon of revived threads fascinating. I have no qualms about joining the ones whose topics are relevant. I sometimes wonder how people here find them, though. The only mechanisms I'm aware of are search and brute force (i.e., going backward through forum pages). In this case, threads from 2006 were about 500 pages in, so considerable effort would have been required.

You find them like this:

Isn't that a feature of the recently-implemented forum software? I don't recall seeing it previously, but maybe I missed it.

Yes, and the rash of necros started after the change.

Yes, but resurrected threads are nothing new; sometimes, a spammer lands in one, resurrecting it. Other times, idle browsing means you arrive at one, think it interesting enough to read, and proceed to click and post without realising its venerable age rooted in computing antiquity.

well i dozed off while watching a boring football game on tv with my air on my lap a few times but not while lying in bed

on resurrected threads: as long term member my favourite is when i answer to such a thread only to realized i have already commented on it 5 years ago.
Luckily with the new forum software you can see your own little icon better ;)

2006: when G5 PowerBooks were always around "next tuesday"

Well, there is something of a difference between falling asleep with your MBA, or iPad, or with a book. The book falls harmlessly out of your hand (and I have fallen asleep reading books, although I usually manage to put them down before I finally nod off), whereas - depending on where it tumbles to - a computer can tumble harmlessly on sheets, or a duvet, or can fall onto a floor.

No, beds are not the place for computers; at least, not in my universe…..

Yeah, I always find whatever I was using right under me a few hours later. Falling out my hands while waiting on something/typing/listening to music, MacBook, iPad, iPhone, iPod, getting tangled in earphones.

I've been so tired that I've slept on concrete, and I've done so at a computer desk too, so I guess sleeping on aluminum isn't that much worse. Haha.

Worst to be awake with your computer crap everywhere. One time I tripped on my power cord and went flying across the room.
