Any of you use your computers in public? I have had laptops for years and still hardly ever take them to starbucks etc.

i take it to Costage cafe like weekly, its very cool to use it in public and have fun surfing the net and chatting while have a coffee cup =),and all girls stare at the bright apple in the back lol:D

Well my mb is the first laptop that I can take to public without the battery dying or generally embarrassing myself. My last laptop's battery lasted all of 3 minutes after less than 2 years of use :(. However, my mb is a pleasure to take out :D. I used it couple of times in the airport. I'm not too big on taking my laptop to starbucks and whatnot. My clumsy nature's gonna cause me to spill drinks all over the poor mb.

Never bring it out in public, over to friends sure. I'm not in school or need it for business, just mess around web surfing so I really don't need to bring it anywhere with me, just cool to play on at friends.

My PowerBook comes everywhere with me and I'll happily sit in a cafe and use it.

Sure, that's why I got a Macbook for the portability. If you're concerned with someone stealing it get a lock. They take standard lockdowns (that hold in front of the headphone jack) you can loop around a table leg (check fleabay or you fav.computer dealer)

Mine probably runs a greater risk at home where I'm eating my breakfast, holding coffee in one hand and typing lefty with the Macbook wobbling back and forth on the sofa cushion.

As a landscape photographer, I sometimes need to upload photos while I'm away from home, so I'll take my MBP into a pub and have a beer. But I don't want to impress people with a shiny computer (that's what my natural wit and rugged good looks are for :) ), so I retreat to the quietest corner.

I don't actually take my MBP out very much at all. Yes I've used it at the airport and coffee shops etc, taken it to work or other people's houses but for the most part it stays at home. If I had an ultraportable mac I'd be more inclined to carry that about!

Not going to lie, i like to show off I have a mac :D hahaha

When I walk into Starbucks or else where I make sure that the way I am holding the case it is in shows the apple logo to everyone lol

Or at school I always pull out my macbook for absolutely no reason

i carry mine mostly when I travel. Never had any issues. But in and airport or anywhere else I never let anyone watch my stuff. I carry it with me every time I have to pee. Not even good friends I would hate for them to start chatting and it get stolen. But thats just me.

I do at times, if I have time to kill and something I need to get done.

I would probably take it out more in public if I would clean it more often!:(

I use it on a regular basis at our local Starbucks.
It gets a lot of appreciative stares from patrons!

It is why I got a laptop in the first place.

Now that places are becoming wireless, I take it everywhere--even to a local pub.

I have had a few people remark about the "upside down :apple:" shinning in the darkness. . . .

There's nothing more enjoyable than browsing the web on my Macbook whilst drinking a coffee at the Rays Jazz Cafe above the Foyles bookshop, whilst people watching all those walking down Charing Cross Rd.

:)

I've used my MacBook all over, anywhere I can get a WiFi signal. Airports, McDonalds, car parks, the street, coffee shops, sitting in office doorways at 2am 'cause there was WiFi, back of a London cab at traffic lights giving the driver directions from Google Earth, checking a bus timetable at the bus stop etc. etc. My local coffee shop had a PC but it was always in use so I bought them a WiFi router so I could surf there on my MacBook. I'd take it with me even more if it where Asus U1F or Vaio TZ sized.

i don't take her out much, but then again i'm not the type to go to a coffee shop and hang out.

when i'm traveling for work i have to dump photos, so i'll go have lunch and clear off my cards...but i never feel like people are paying attention to the fact that i'm using a mac. oh, and occasionally when i'm waiting to be picked up from a hotel i'll use my MBP in the lobby to check my e-mail.
