So most of you guys pay for wifi and mcdonalds and starbucks? because in Socal they all charge.

Not by a long shot :) Just have to find the right place :)

Currently at the coffee shop right now (coffee klatch) to be exact... Trying to conduct a social experiment... just seeing if i'd get any reaction regarding my MBP....

Conclusion:
No reaction whatsoever!!! BUT... there were also 2 other people with MBP's!!!!!! There was one other person here with a laptop. a dell to be exact.. he didnt look like he was having much fun...

My laptop pretty much goes everywhere I go. Most of my clients are always impressed when I whip out the macbook pro.

I've even taken it to pc lan parties before now :D

Mine comes out with me a few times a week. My favorite place to take it (not sure if this counts as "public") is the community park behind my house. I sit on the picnic tables where the WiFi from my house still reaches and browse away for hours! It's much more enjoyable then sitting in a dark room.

Sometimes. today I used it in public. I had someone say they never saw a white laptop before.

Though I don't have my MBP yet I can speculate from my "old" laptop that I shall use it at school nearly daily, and on the train occasionally (when it's not too busy, or shady people hanging about)

Im in a public library and i turned on my MBP and the BING!!!! sound went off. Can you turn that off?

Before you shut down, turn the volume down all the way. No more BING!!!!

FWIW, I'd like to also know if there is another way. You know, just in case if I forget to turn the volume down before shutting it off.

I intend on using my MBP at University but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't use it in Starbucks, and definitely not a pub/bar. I didn't spend £1500 for some drunken idiot to spill a beer on it. Likewise I don't "hang out" at Starbucks, so it wouldn't pay to get it out for 15 minutes.

I don't really tend to take mine "out" with me (although it travels with me wherever I go anywhere), but on occasion I've used it in a little discreet cafe or at airports - I must admit, editing video on a Powerbook in a nice little cafe in London is quite pleasant... :)

But most of the time I'd be too self-concious, or too security concious to flash a laptop around - people get mugged for stuff *way* less valuable... :(

My MacBook has been on over 250 flights with me, probably 30 cities, and 3 countries. Yes. I take it in pubic, but if I didn't, I'd never see it.

I think that's just a sad commentary on my job though.

My macbook goes with me most places when we go away.. :)

Best was at the East Midlands airport departure lounge - when macbooks were relatively new - i could feel the envious looks over me from most other "business" users with their acer/dell laptops :D

HELL YEAH!!!
