You would know. 😉Bandaholics Anonymous
Out of curiosity, for those of you who bought the pride band(s), how many of you would identify as LGBTQIA versus as an ally? I don’t have an issue with allies wearing pride bands, though if I saw someone wearing one I would assume they’re queer. I’m assuming people who are homophobic/transphobic/biphobic et al. aren’t buying pride bands.
I don't hate any of them, but my take on the green efforts today:
Green: love it, but it's not the easiest to wear as it's so intense
Mint: looks like green Blutack, or chewing gum. Not terrible, but pretty "meh" unless it's picked up by clothing
Marine: I don't have it yet, but it looks too pale and possibly with a hint of blue
Spearmint: Fresh and bright, looks good, but again an odd colour to match unless clothing picks it up
Pacific: Again I don't have it yet, but looks like the "Midnight Blue" of the greens i.e. too dark
Pine: Hints of blue or grey in some lights take away from it being a good general purpose dark green
Khaki: Could have been a good mid-green, but it has just a hint too much brown that makes it slightly "sludgy"
Beryl: Very hard to tell apart from Turquoise. So pale it's barely green at all
Cactus: Alongside green it looks blue and alongside blue it looks green
Cargo Khaki: probably my all-time favourite band when in a black Watch, but it's very dark and quite military looking so doesn't work with a business shirt in the office
Olive Flak: again I love it with a black Watch, but again it looks military so only useable for casual outfits
Yeah, I guess it is. It’s muted and more flexible than I expected when I bought it, but again not a business shirt match. I also really like it.What about Nike Spruce Fog? That's also a green, isn't it?
Thanks for the photo! Do you find your green wearable? I’m wondering if it’s a bit strong for me.View attachment 916857
Top to bottom:
Green
Spearmint
Turquoise
Turquoise is definitely more blue. And flamingo which I’m wearing looks pink IRL but REFUSES to look anything but a shade of orange in photos.
I appreciate that and thought of it before posting, but as Pride by its very nature is political and celebrates progress in LGBTQIA rights and representation since Stonewall and all there is to come, I think it’s a fair question. Anyway, didn’t mean to take the thread on a tangent, though I would argue that Apple by the act of releasing a pride band, uniquely clearly labeling it as such in the band itself and not couching it in terms like rainbow is making its stance clear.Definitely risking taking this thread down a rabbit hole, judging by what I’ve seen other threads turn into when discussing pride bands; a trend that really does indicate where much of the world still sits on the whole topic, unfortunately..
I’ve done the update on the watch but no new faces yet.
Edit: I restarted my watch and phone and now I have the striped one available directly on my watch but none of the others.
Not sure how I feel about the Pride sport band although the process sounds cool. Love the Nike one! Shipping dates already creeping further on that one.
same for me.

I ordered it the day it became available and it still won’t get here until May 28th!
You know, looking at this thread, whoever came up with the idea of interchangeable watch bands in the first place is a f*cking marketing genius
Just glad I ordered it while I could. Soonest free delivery now is June 15th - 22nd.same for me.

I blame him for all my insecurities.whoever came up with the idea of interchangeable watch bands in the first place is a f*cking marketing genius
Ok, a few observations wrt the Pride Sport Band now that I have it:
• It‘s very awesome![]()
• The „imperfections“ of the stripes give it an almost artisanal look and feel – which is very different to the „cold perfection“ of the other Sport Bands.
• I think Apple did the strap a disservice by making the promo pictures with the 2020 Pride watchface as the combination is a little over the top, design-wise. IMO this band looks much better with a watchface that is as simple as possible.

I would argue that Apple did it *because* the traditional watch industry did it. Doesn’t mean they didn’t innovate. Creating different bands for different occasions (I think at launch they had 7 types?) means you could dress up or work out with the same exact watch, and not ruin any bands. I think the implementation was initially inspired by the industry, but the practicality and reasoning was given to us by Apple. Think about it, how many people do you know change the bands daily on their traditional watches? And now think about how many years the „traditional“ watch industry had (100+) to come up with something like this … and yet it took „the computer guys“ to figure it out.

So overall the three Nike greens are among my favourite bands ever. Most of the Apple greens not so much. Except OG green. I might like that better than Spruce Fog In fact.
This looks so good. Now I’m thinking if I should have got this one instead the Nike one.Ok, a few observations wrt the Pride Sport Band now that I have it:

They do exist, but I’m not sure that they’re really common. They’re just called quick release bands. They have a lever on the inside of the band that pushes down on the spring, allowing the band to slide out.I'll be honest with you, I was under the impression that there didn't exist any "quick-change" system for traditional watches? And if changing the strap is a hassle/inconvenience, most people will obviously don't do it at all. Hell, even with how easy Apple makes it, I'm sure the majority of Apple Watch owners seldom/never change their watch band.
It’s a grayish green, exactly as the name spruce fog would imply. Like a morning dew in the forest. It’s a very earthy color imo.I thought Nike Spruce Fog was gray not green.
I usually don’t do loops, but a few of those look awesome. Would be interested if I was in Europe. Ugh, Apple, can we bring back unicolor loops?Later today I will post in the macrumors marketplace, but I would like to give my fellow collectors that hang around in this thread first dibs on all my Sport Loops that I decided to sell because I don‘t really wear them at all. If you see something you like, just PM me. Caveat: I will only ship to Europe as shipping overseas is prohibitively expensive.
