I’m gonna need a 2nd job.... or a second husband. 🤣🤣
Thats the spirit!

Why I try not to wear dark colors, episode 1:
View attachment 933906
No way around it man. The darker dyes are just brutal. I find that if i wipe the bands down really well with a microfiber cloth after a day of wear (and dont wear them for multiple consecutive days) I can avoid shininess almost entirely. I feel like its the long term exposure to sweat thats the primary issue. Another reason to keep lighter colors on in summer months.

Will keep that in mind next time I wear darker colors! Any experience with how brutal Dragon Fruit is?

I take something like this for the shining parts. It’s possible to make the band nearly New againe!

Got it!! Thanks!!

I have given up putting too much anxiety into the slicks.

Black sport band worn for a total of 24 hours, give or take.

Dude, your still wanting those? 🤣
How are these band condoms even supposed to work? Wouldn’t the band still rub against the band condom and get shine on it?
Well, my idea of a protective film would essentially just be some clear stickers that cover both the front and back of the band. This allows the color to remain while preventing sweat & oils from actually touching the band. Once stickers get messy, just peel off and replace. It’s really just a complicated solution though. Regularly wiping down bands is probably a better solution overall.

Good idea, but my concern would be that the adhesive would still remove color when you peeled it off.

Band Condoms Can still result in unplanned surprises.

You should try to cut some Saran Wrap and lay it on the underside of the pin strip. Just for science.

The real issue isn’t color pulling, but it’s the inevitable condensation/sweat leakage that will occur between the fluoroelastomer and the film layer. I will share some pictures of some of my most worn bands. If you wipe them down with a cloth HARD after a day of wearing it, you’ll legit negate any sign of wear.

When you come to the forum for band comparisons and walk away thinking about band condoms and band rub downs: you know you’re home.

Either ask for the code on the back (G1 38mm starts MLD82) OR check the front of the box. If it says '316L Stainless Steel Pin' on the front of the box under 'Red' it's G1, if it just says 'Stainless Steel Pin', it's G2.

If it's not boxed, G1 says (Product)RED on the pin strap, G2 doesn't.

If it's in a new-style textless box, it's G3
I've bought this band directly from Apple in 2016. It doesn't have "316L" in front of "Stainless Steel Pin". However it has the (Product)RED stamp on the pin strap. It is the brightest Red in comparison to my other Reds I have. I guess it still makes the 1st gen (Product)RED band :apple: :)

Is your model number MLDJ2? If so then you have Gen 1. Also, based on the timeframe and color of the band it must be Gen 1. Gen 2 came out in fall 2017.

Well, that's blown my theory out of the water! Must have just been a happy coincidence I ended up with the right ones!

Thanks for the clarification. I've edited the original post so as not to mislead the uninitiated.

Hi. Does anyone have any outside photos of OG yellow and pollen side by side to share? I have pollen but lately I’ve been jonesing for a deeper more saturated shade. Thanks!
