I was in the grocery store yesterday and saw a “hot” band for the first time ever. 100% of the time I’m seeing default black/anthracite/pink sand or third party. This guy had a 44mm silver aluminum and what must have been nectarine. Hopefully OEM. Made my day.
Yeah, colours are really rare “in the wild“. I occasionally see milanese loops, but then again they are default bands for the stainless models, too.

I actually saw someone wear Canada the other day! And someone else had the braided Pride loop last week. Looked totally real from what I could see.

Hold up a second here... what is this sport band? Prototype Cloud Blue?
Yep. Figured I would show it some love in my twins pic. There’s still hope for summerbands! About as much hope for new Leather Loops and Modern Buckles 🥁.

Someone should snap up the other cloud on Chargerstore.

And as an addendum on the spring 2021 sport loops, it’s interesting to note how they tweaked that olive/khaki rail on each band so they’re not quite the same as the Olive sport loop runway nor each other. Whereas the fall 2020 sport loops had pretty uniform rail buddies.

41/45mm seem more but confirmed.
Existing bands HAVE to be compatible right?!?!?
There’s no way they would sink R&D money into the new band styles from last year and them immediately change them. And I don’t think the display is getting massively widened like last time, anyway. That’s really where they picked up the extra screen real estate. Not that at really matters because of the taper.

I actually can’t wait to see the math here. This might just be some slimy rounding to make the size increase seem bigger than it actually is. Like how the 12” MacBook was a round-up to make it seem bigger but the iPad Pro refuses to call itself 13” so it doesn’t seem too big.

Edit: current sizes actually precise but series 3 were fudged a little

On the compatibility question, I wonder if Apple will draw a distinction with 40mm and 44mm bands and their connectors being “compatible” with S7 while previous size generation 38mm and 42mm bands will be out of the “recommended” size tolerances. Could we go 3mm smaller and still “fit?” This would be the logical end of the S3, for sure.

I don’t think the bands are changing except for the lettering/labeling. What I said above about the tapered look. It will be funny if the link bracelets live on and get all three generations of size names on their product page, though. Or maybe a graphite and gold update with the new lug shape!

But yes the s3 is toast. One last software update and the SE takes its spot in the price matrix.

And is everyone seeing Atlantic Blue on this new 41mm photo leak? Seems like blue and red aluminum (and their bands to some degree) are sticking around.

Agree with all of this. And it definitely looks like Atlantic blue is sticking around if that picture is genuine. A slight disappointment as I was hoping for a Midnight Blue/Deep Navy option in the braided line. Charcoal does have a bit of a navy hue to it but still reads mostly dark grey to me.

When they dropped only one Leather Link and two non pride Braideds in the spring I figured we were entering a more conservative period of new colors.

Perhaps it was always the plan to have that explosion of SKUs last fall and let those bands have a long life like the saddle and black leather loops. Shoot, are pistachio and inverness going to stick around for the green watch?

And then will some people order 41/45 of the old colors and receive 40/44 for some period of time or will Apple remainder the old ones to go for cheap on eBay 👼🏻👼🏻👼🏻

Perhaps in the era of a less fashion-season-capsule approach, it makes more sense to let the old bands bleed into the new seasons, to make them more available without risking having too many that need to be EOLd.

Mail Call: Received the saddle brown and black classic buckle leather bands in the mail. Bought both on eBay at a great price even though I already had a saddle brown!

Didn't think the AW band addiction would hit me this hard and I thought I'd be content with 3 or 4 bands. I bought my AW about 8 months ago and I actually have more bands than my wife (13 vs 4)!

Now I have an extra NIB saddle brown leather classic buckle and nike black sport loop (not in photo).

Also, bought my first "loud" color today from chargerstore/ebay. A green sport band. Now I'll have bands that come close to matching my favorite team's colors (Seahawks official colors are: college navy, wolf grey, and action green).

I really hope Apple makes the newer AW's compatible with the 42/44 bands! I don't see myself upgrading until the AW8 at the earliest, but would hate the thought of having bought all these bands that can't be used on newer versions.

Not to be that enabler guy (although if you’re down duplicates road, the ailment has progressed beyond medical help) but if you look at the spring 2020 nike collection, it’s very 12-oriented. For sure I saw the sideline staff in white/lime blast flyknit epic react shoes to match the Lime Blast bands. And then also the non-Nike neon lime sport loop. (Whispering/crying) go eagles.

(Note that the Nike sport loop doesn’t look Lime-y in many photos, including Apple’s, because it’s not threaded into the base, just the fur.)

Nice. I didn't know about that Black/Lime Blast band. Now I'll have to search for one... just when I told my wife that the green was the last band I'd buy.

I do have a couple nike's that are 12-inspired (Nike Air Max 270 Seattle edition and Nike Train Speed 4 that I almost never wear because they're too loud and obnoxious looking! lol)

Unfortunately black/lime blast deals so far are hard to come by. But I feel like I’m 6mos to a year they’ll be available for like half price in high quantity from a wholesaler on eBay.
