Hey everyone,

I seem to be having a odd issue. Each morning when I take my phone off the charger, the screen display has set itself to the lowest setting, and then I have to manually slide it to almost full brightness which is where I leave it. I do not have it set to auto change or anything.

Anyone else having this issue? Not sure if its a 14 Pro Max issue or a iOS16 issue, as I was on the PB on my old 13 Pro Max and for a week before the 14 Pro max delivered I was on regular iOS16.

I have the same issue on the Pro Max. I started noticing it when I disabled auto brightness. On auto brightness it doesn’t do that. Seems like a bug Apple needs to fix.

Apparent SUCCESS this morning!

Here’s what I did:

Updated iPhone 14 Pro to iOS 16.0.2, which was released yesterday.

Went into Settings > Display and Brightness > Turned Off AOD (Always On Display).

Rebooted iPhone (Pressed Volume Up, the Volume Down, the Held Power Button until Screen went black AND the start-up white Apple Logo appeared, then released it).

After reboot, turned AOD back on, then rebooted iPhone once more.

Placed iPhone on wireless charging stand overnight,

When I woke this morning, I swiped up on the Lock Screen and was delighted to see the Display Brightness had remained where it was sett from last night.

I updated the software last night as well, but did nothing different but the screen was at full display this morning. Maybe the update fixed it

I just received my 14 pro last week (9/16), worked fine for two day, then the above issues started. Sunday 9/25 I updated to IOS 16.2 and it seemed to fix the issue until last night when it did it again. Brightness set to max, using always on display, true tone off, Auto adjust off, using dark background. This needs fixed because I can't see the screen in the morning to adjust in the daylight, have to go into a dark room or basement to see display to adjust. Additional comment is my wife's 11 max is using the same update and just started to mess with her brightness level to make it full bright at night since this update. Not sure of her settings.

This worked for me. Thanks for sharing. ;)

Unfortunately the above suggestion did NOT work for me. I thought it may have because for a couple of days I woke up to a normal display, but now for two days in a row the display is back to being dimmed after being on the charger over night. I wish I could determine a pattern, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to. Hopefully someone comes up with a fix (preferable Apple!) because this is very annoying!

My phone originally didn’t have this issue. My camera has looked like garbage. Blurry and grainy. I erased my phone and restored the settings trying to fix the camera and now I have this issue with a crappy camera lol . Phone is going to be returned once I find one on the Apple Store to buy . 14 pm

I agree, thought I had it working for a couple of days, then it came back like a bad penny. I did report it as a bug on Apples web site, I think others should as well. If anyone hears of a fix please let us know. Thanks!
