Lovely apple perfection! :) the test was much easier to do then the browser version though. I did notice a small chigger crawling on my screen though. Ew.

I did these tests and seems like I have 4 or 5 dead pixels, which are very visible black spots on the white color test. Not visible on the red and barely visible on the other colors. Wiped the screen several times to make sure it wasn't a speck of dust or lint but no go.

Mine is a 32GB 4G Black DMPH9 series bought at Best Buy and I will be taking it in to an Apple Store this weekend.

Just an update: i went to the store friday to look at floor models, as far as I can see examining each one, 7 out of 11 have some sort of dead pixel/dust problem, that is a 63% pixel fail rate from this sampling, if you add the 8 I've opened, that's a 15:19 ratio, or 78% pixel fail rate, not what I expect from apple, I think this display tech is 1 year too early, and they need to figure out how to put these into production with a low fail rate before it should have been implemented. While I was there, I was about to do an exchange, but since the store was closing and that was my 13th day, they just renewed the return date until the 11th and told me to come back to get it sorted out, as that isn't normal (this is the customer care im used to), as a responce to the uneven screen, I think all of them had it to one extent or another.

I called Apple. They said a 78% fail rate was within spec. Why else do they have bad units on the display floor.

How does everyone get pixel perfect iPads when I personally opened eight and each one has had one or more dead pixels?

Perhaps you mis-identifying dead pixels?

They are so freaking tiny how are you seeing them?

On further observation, it seems like all pixels are fine but all those tiny little specks seem more like lint to me because I can see them even when the iPad is turned off.

Either way, I plan to take mine to the Genius Bar this weekend and have it checked out.

As with the vast majority of all iPad3's....sweet perfection.

The most gorgeous display ever produced for a mobile device...period.

Where is that guy who says he's on his 15th iPad3 and Apple has released a faulty product?

Laugh...

Wirelessly posted

I'm on to my 5th iPad 3... Haven't come across a 100% perfect screen yet, opened them all in store and thought the one I have now was the one, but I found a dead pixel when I got home.... Rang the manager saying that I feel bad bringing it back again but he said he doesn't care if they have 2 open 50, as long as I'm happy:) so back I go today

I'm sorry to have to tell you this...

You are 100% part of the problem. 5th iPad... Shame on you. 1 stuck pixel...returning it....shame on you.

Please sell or give away ALL of your electronic devices. You do don't deserve them. When you get #6...please give it to a rational person.

Thank you,

T. Cook

I couldn’t disagree more.
I'm on my fourth iPad and the problem with the three returned ones has been dead pixel(s).
One of the reasons I choose to buy Apple products is the quality of the devices. When I pay £559 for something that’s main selling point is the screen, I expect it to be perfect.
These products are not cheap, and the quality needs to reflect this.
Even one dead pixel can mar the experience.

What price point defines "Cheap"? You paid 559 for something to be perfect. At what price range would you allow defects?

Yawn. Another dude who had a dream that he saw the "majority" of iPads with his own eyes, then woke up and decided to call it reality.

I've paid for mobile phones before (maybe £80ish) and not been too bothered about a dead pixel.
But the phone was not all about the screen.

How is that glue sniffing problem workin' out for ya?

No dream needed my child...simple numbers that equal reality.

Yawn.

That works both ways. People complaining on forums are not the majority of iPad users.

No dead pixels here
just a nice pink to green gradient on this faulty ipad screen

Ok, sweet. Let's see your numbers.

Waiting...

I too have no dead pixels but have a single spec of dust in the top left about an inch below..... Can see it with the iPad turned off.

And as the screen is crisp and white. I am in no mood of trying another one out which may be worse

No dead pixels, and only a very very slight difference with the brightness of white in one corner - I noticed it when in a dimly lit room and not in a normally lit room.

I'm happy with the iPad's here - kids have the "old" 1, Wife has iPad 2 and I have the new iPad :p

Same problem here. No dead pixels but slightly uneven backlighting.
