I've gone through 3 iPads, all of them have had 1 dead pixel . This is especially annoying when people i know have gotten them and don't have any (and trust me, I've looked over them) The people at the apple store have been very nice about it, and completely understand how annoying it is to have a defect on a $1000 device, but they think it could be a bad batch of them or something like that, they said to go to the other store next week to try to get one out of a different batch. I guess I just have been really unlucky, but hopefully I will end up with one that doesn't have any bad pixels :).

Are you from Boston area? I think the "bad batch" is here :) I changed 2 of them already (ATT and VZW):) Just bought one more online to pick up tomorrow. They don't know what to do with 50B$ I don't know about bad pixel. :) Really for this money give me a flawless device. My last one has 2 bad pixels and geting really hot.

Seriously : Apple has this return policy to show huge sales in one week. I saw a lot of people returning devices. We bought millions, return thousand and bought thousands. They don't show return in the list.

I don't stop swaping them till I get it without bad pixels. Apple store is on my way back home. They can fire me as a customer and I win, I 'll have some savings :)

My first iPad3 was mad yellow.. zero dead pixels though.

Took it into Apple store for exchange, short story - guy ended up opening 3 more iPads for me, all had 1 dead pixel (black) on these tests..

The yellow hue wasn't as bad on the 3 we opened - and ended up taking the 3rd opened one home even though it has a dead pixel.

I'm so darn OCD - guy said bring it back if it bothers me too much, he'll open more up. But i'm just afraid they are all going to be 1 or more less pixels.

Nope, I'm from NC, completely agree with you, i might give it one more shot at a different store this weekend, hopefully that sorts the problem out.

That isn't too reassuring, glad you got a nice person to help you out, i would go back, they make the new screen the main selling point of the new iPad, so it shouldn't have big manufacturing defects

Found 2 dead pixels on mine near the home button it's going back:D my 16GB one that I swapped for this 32GB didn't have any. I'm getting the most out of my money.. One pixel seems to be like 2 next to each other because the other one seems smaller so I have 3..

Do I have to return it from the apple store I got it from? or can I return it to a different apple store? There's a apple store near my work but I didn't buy it from there.. I got it the one closer to my house.. Be Easier to just drive by the one closer to my work when I get off.. Hopeful they have my model in stock there..don't feel like driving to my other apple store cus of freeway fee tolls:eek:

Thanks :)

Perfect here - very slightly warm (color temp) but nothing too extreme. No stuck or dead pixels and no light bleed (zero, in fact) ... Serial starts with DMPHC (10th week manufacture, so mid-March) - I just picked this iPad up today from an Apple Store which had none in stock yesterday, meaning they literally JUST received this unit.

Thank you a ton for these pictures. I ran through them and found a completely perfect screen: except for a spec of annoying dust in the middle of the screen that I now see prominently and constantly on all white pages.

I'm setting up a Genius appointment for a planned exchange, I know it's hardly a big deal, but it's definitely a burden to not have a perfect quality screen for something I paid top dollar for.

Wirelessly posted

I'm on to my 5th iPad 3... Haven't come across a 100% perfect screen yet, opened them all in store and thought the one I have now was the one, but I found a dead pixel when I got home.... Rang the manager saying that I feel bad bringing it back again but he said he doesn't care if they have 2 open 50, as long as I'm happy:) so back I go today

Not one dead pixel, which is really impressive considering how many there are. Very little backlight bleed, much less than on my iPad 2.

I used dictation to write this post, hey ho!

I'm on my second and awaiting my third. First had a dead pixel on the right hand side of the screen and dust towards the bottom as well as a small dent on the back. The second seems to be pixel perfect but I have a piece of dust at the very bottom of the screen... I considered leaving but I know it will continue to bug me if I don't... Just a shame apple uk won't let me return/ exchange in a store... They keep making me wait around for collections/deliveries.

On each picture I saw a black dot at the same place. While the black image I can't see it. What is that mean?

Perfect here. Although I wonder if I could see a dead pixel on such a high res screen. What are there, 264 per inch? As long as I don't see any, I'm happy.

Perfect screen. Even and no dead pixels. A bit warmer than I like but I am getting used to it already.

Didn't read all 10 pages but the flashlight app is even better for testing. The one from John Haney.
