anybody else catch Apple and Zane bowing to the PRC? the Apple Music Voice thing will be available in "17 countries and regions" but since Hong Kong and Taiwan are on the list.....

I watched the event. I am not a laptop person. I wanted AirPods Pro news. I wanted mini news.

Apple could reinvent their presentation style and methods. The way they present their new stuff has become stale. It's always the same vibe, the same look,...The only difference was Cook wearing a blue shirt.
But what about Tim's snazzy hip gyrations? I don't think we'd seen that before? ;)

Great new toys for pros. I'll probably get a MBP this year. A 27" and 30" prosumer-level display woulda been nice.

Finally!
I've been waiting for those MacBooks for about 10 years now.
Haven't changed my Late 2013 13" MacBook Pro by now as I had no viable replacement for it, given the trash Apple has put out with its 2016-2020 generation.
M1 Macs were a big surprise last year, but they were still relying on the old flawed hardware platform.
Those new ones are what I've been waiting for for so much time. I can now finally put the old one to rest and buy a beefed up 14" inch unit.

I’ll be sticking with my 16” MBP. I want the power and battery life of the M1, but the blooming on my 13” iPad Pro drives me nuts at night. I do not want mini-led. That combined with the notch is enough for me to say no. I like the touchbar (once they added the physical escape key back in) but can live without it. The wait for eGPU support still goes on.

Maybe benchmarks will change my mind. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

LAZY, UNINSPIRED NOTCH design transported to laptops. That’s the main story here. A complete lack of innovation, design aesthetic, and user experience. An unnecessary trade-off and bad design. That’s the takeaway here.
That’s all you you got from the presentation? Impressive…

So I got excited when I saw there was a notch thinking that FaceID was now on the MacBook Pros.
Wrong wrong wrong! So FaceID has been on iPhones since iPhone X and we are now on iPhone 13!
What would explain this? A hardware issue? The screen is too thin to implement FaceID? Surely there is enough computing power. What a bummer!

Apple finally made a MacBook so "Pro"... that I realized I'm not. <orders MBA after waiting months for the new MBPs>

Yet another who totally agrees with you. I bought a MBA as an interim, instead it's now been made permanent. Those prices are far too Pro for my use, skills and wallet to justify.

MBP very impressive! but still no sign of an affordable standalone display from apple?

No. If you look at the current MB Airs (where the camera is and the dead space on each side), the new MB camera is the same distance from the top, but now they just raised the screen around that camera higher; so now the camera space fits along what is now the higher Mac OS menu line. Heck, if you turn your menu line black-with-white lettering, then the camera disappears. It seems there is more real estate available. Either that, or you have a big black space at the top like before. So, "lazy" isn't correct. They are trying to be innovative with that dead space (--putting the camera in Mac OS menu bar line).
Hiding between menu bars aside. It was unnecessary. If other manufacturers could produce laptops with thinner bezels, without cutting in to the display, Apple decision without utilising Face-ID, is just bonkers.

Is it really so difficult for Apple to design the AirPods case to include hooks attached or have some magnetic option to attach and detach hooks like the AirPods Pro tips.

As you can see from all my previous posts, I've been very of Apple lately. But today's event was incredible. Notch doesn't bother me so much and seriously I don't know if there is anything I could ask more from a laptop. Well done Apple. Two thumbs way up. Trading in my 2015 MBP for the 16.Max.64Gb.2TB!
Good point of view. I ordered the same config. It will arrive on October the 29th - November 2.

I tested Apple Silikon using an M1 Mac mini 16GB 256gb ssd and it is incredible fast and stays cool. I hope Multi-Monitor Problems are gone. Parallels is working and I hope for official Windows support - as Windows 11 runs well.

Hey Dan, Since you asked about what videos we would like to see --
I would like to see a drop test with the 14" MBP. :D

Definitely function over form, which isn’t a bad thing.

Sorry, intel. It was fun, it was real, but it wasn’t real fun.

That all being said, count me in the anti notch group. Looks wise, not loving it.

2012-2015 remains the undisputed looks champ.
