For once I was thinking when I heard Tim and others speak, was how redundant some of the product praising phrases were. If he had a suggestion box, it would be start talking products up spontaneously. It's like someone that constantly begins a statement with basically too often, some things said over and over from previous apple events are old, and there needs to be a new way to pitch products. Perhaps some group writes their lines, but it was putting me to sleep even with how well the graphical preparation/production quality of new products was. Also why do you have to discuss the price at the very end after a long pitch? hint captive audience. :D

I liked some of the remote locations they spoke from.
I think I found the problem. People were reading from scripts. Scripts are fake. It makes it seem like you don’t know and love the feature you’re talking about. I want to hear from the people with passion and excitement that don’t need script

airpods pro 2: fine update

apple watch ultra: hopefully it sets up for better versions in the future. maybe once they drop down to 2 or 3nm, it'll have good enough battery that they'll be a viable alternative to high end garmin watches.

the rest: meh

Purple. They really did that. With their flagship phone.

I’ll be getting the 14 Pro, but I guess I’m back to boring black again. I wish they’d incorporated the dark blue of the 12 Pro into their permanent color lineup. That was the sharpest color of any phone they’ve ever made in my opinion.

But… purple.

good that the AW Ultra is not called AW Pro as leaked. Ultra because of better battery, ok thats it. I dont think that Pros switch their Pro Garmins or Pro Suuntos to this watch, Apple is years behind. „back to start“ is a fancy joke and in some cases dangerous when people are in the wild and rely on their watch.

the keynote sucked. Did anyone like it? Stale, sterile, fake, and stupid.

Why did they talk to us like we are babies who don’t in stand technology or tech terms. Why rehash features that have been in products for generations? And why did everything seem to lack soul?

The island is dope though, but the older keynotes were actually watchable start to finish.

It's like the presenters are so dependent on their technology that they have become part robot.
Maybe that's why they lack soul.

The 11 minute recap did a great job of condensing it, but even for that I had to watch at 1.5x speed and skip some bits.
I had to laugh at the "$799 for a watch is a STEAL!!! We were expecting at least $1000!" bit. He needs to wipe Tim Cook's RDF grease off his face before his next recap.

As for results:
My iPhone X is good enough for me. The iPhone 13 I use for work is fine but I wouldn't have paid to upgrade myself.
My Series 4 Watch is good enough. It's a watch. It counts steps. It alerts me of messages. It tells me the weather.
At $350 (local exchange rate at the time) it was a good deal. I wouldn't pay more than 2x the price just for improved accuracy in body temperature or calorie counting.

So maybe why they came across as so sterile and fake is because they themselves know they're trying to hype something that they themselves know they wouldn't buy if they were in the shoes of people listening. Steve Jobs doing his thing or Phil Schiller take a jump with an iBook were presentations where we know they actually believed in what they were saying.

Meh, not much in there to excite me. The Watch Ultra is total overkill for 98% of users. I did like the dynamic island, although it's essentially 'we can't get rid of the notch yet'. If they have to retain the notch, it's probably the most interesting and innovative way to handle it, so I was quite impressed by that, but not impressed enough to hand over yet more money when my XS Max is serving me just fine.

Every single year Apple holds these types of events, and every single year there's always some debate (usually complaining) about the lack of new features in some of these products, and generally I usually see at least one or two things that I can look at and say are cool, but this year, even I'm floored by the absolute phoning it in by Apple.

iPhone 14 Dynamic Island? I wasn't even impressed with the pill and hole punch out that was rumored, and somehow they made it even worse with this gimmick. Dynamic Island is the new version of the Touch Bar. 48MP camera? Anyone who knows anything about photography knows that megapixels don't equal a better photo.

AirPods Pro 2 is the EXACT SAME THING as the first version. Like they didn't even attempt to modify the design or anything, and good luck getting touch controls to work on those short stems.

AirPods 3 without Magsafe? Who even would be asking for this? I don't even understand why this exists. What's the point?

Apple Watch Ultra? I just don't see the point of this. Like the Wayfinder thing is cool, but not for $800.

The one thing I know for sure I'll buy from Apple is more of their stock. I've been making a killing the last several years and it now appears that Apple is embracing a strategy of now selling last year's technology as brand new, and if people want to buy it, I'm all for it! LOL
Old way much better because they dont use pixel . pixel just a dot . So megapixel more dot or info cramp to one picture . E.g you take video 8k but want to publish on 4k . If you strech or smaller , the quality not effected . But if you zoom in picture or video the same issue , pixelize.

** old times snes we dont see pixelize games because our monitor small height and width but new trend pixelize games character , for sure youngster think , ohh this my granpa and gramma play games . Sooo bad.

I'd say I'm 50% likely to order an Apple Watch Ultra and 90% likely to order Air Pods Pro.

I think I'll pass on the iPhone 14, since it does not have USB-C.

I am very hopeful that the new iPads will have USB-C.

This is just an anecdote. The plural of anecdote does not equal data.

I think like Marvel movies the apple keynote formula is getting old.

Are you an athlete? No? Stick to the Apple Watch 8

Is there a purpose/reason for the small row of pixels above the island ?? If the edge of the island was flush with the screen top, these pixels would be part of the lower display. Not much, but not wasted. Of course this setup would not be an island, just a pill shaped notch, but seems more efficient. Just asking... Do not care either way, just interested whether this might be purposefully sub-optimal so as to be different. Thx.

You mean over the sensors?

Why don't you blame your gov for devaluing their currency instead of a for profit public company? Haha
Exactly. In fact if we took gov out of it the phones wound probably cost half as much. Taxes, regulations all they do is drive up the cost of business that gets passed to the consumer.

If Apple makes such a big deal out of the island, I guess a few more years before we get an all display iphone. iPhone 14 pro seems generally like a tiny upgrade, which is exactly what my wallet likes. Hopefully then they go back to the design with round edges.

I'm still shocked at the lack of widget adoption for iPhone home screens. It's completely underwhelming at this point. I just can't see something like dynamic island getting widespread support.
Well I can understand it from a developer standpoint. They usually have multiple platforms to support all with different coding. For iPhone alone you have so many APIs to support:
- support different screen sizes
- have an iPad app with optional splitscreen and now stage manager support
- have widget support (which also changed drastically between v1 en v2)
- magic keyboard and trackpad support
- optional siri support
- lockscreen widget support (basic or ‘live’)
- sometimes default app’ support
- optional watch app
- optional Files support app integration
- optional contact picker/share target support
- etc

The lists gets longer each year and companies are starting to prioritise which features they invest in on each platform. This is why the touchbar didn’t get any meaningfull support either. The dynamic island probably is too nich to support for most developers as long that it is tied to 1 (very expensive) product model.

Windows has the same problem. Since windows 8 Microsoft tried to change the platform with new APIs and functionality but 99 percent of the developers ignored all those new features for the past 10 years and still use win32 API’s and UI frameworks

Megapixels allows you to crop photo and still maintain your minimum resolution. It effectively lets you zoom after the fact and it essentially adds optical zoom if those were superfluous pixels for you anyway
Agreed. And more image data is always better when you have a handy A16 supercomputer to manipulate all that data in approximately real time.

Best product Apple Watch ultra I can’t wait to get my hands on it 🫡
Agreed. I like the AW7, but the Ultra makes pretty much exactly the changes that I wanted and at a relatively good price point. I have ordered one, which is a first because normally I insist on physically examining a new product before buying.

I’m definitely ordering the Apple Watch Ultra. Makes Garmin look like cheap garbage.
