These are mature products. No one needs innovation every year -- innovation comes incrementally. Think of minor year-to-year changes as compounding interest. Over one year, the change in value isn't so much, but 5% every year for multiple years starts to add up and can make a big difference to your bank account balance. The average lifespan of ownership for a new phone is 3-4 years. That's when users start comparing models and looking for relevant reasons to upgrade.
Innovation can’t be stopped. It’s an evolving process. If you’re a tech company like Apple you better try to stay ahead of your competitors or at least be on par.

Since Apple has their new headquarter it looks like their tech evolution has almost come to a standstill while competitors copied the Apple sauce and even surpassed Apple on many fronts.

I believe in the evolution theory. Those who don’t evolve will ultimately go extinct. Apple will survive a little longer because they’ve a lot blubber on their bones. But according to evolution they deserve to go extinct.

Yeah, yeah.....another "probably the best iThing ever". What they mean is "get yer wallets out suckers, we want all your cash" Do they really believe carrying around a 1k $£€ slab of glass makes a good phone or camera? It doesn't enrich our lives at all, it just makes us $1000 poorer. Greedy, greedy Apple.

Another dud. I think I’ll just get a new battery for my iPhone 12 Mini and wait for the 17.

Prices are way too high for such marginal upgrades.

These events are meaningless at this point and the products are tired and unimpressive. What I wouldn’t give to have an Apple event feel as exciting as the original iMac, first iPhone, G4 Cube…..everything is just uninspired rubbish from the parts bin. I haven’t lusted for an Apple device since the iPhone 4. Something needs to change.
These are massive updates. I currently have an iPhone XR. Were we supposed to be upgrading ever year?

I'm pretty sure after these events that upgrading to new hardware is not a big drive for us. Moving forward we're probably going to upgrade when the software is no longer updated on the devices. Or if hardware breaks on us.

I have come to the conclusion that a lot of people here don’t have apple phones. I think they just made an account so they can be negative for anything apple does.
Some like me remember when Apple was at their pinnacle so we aren’t shy about pointing out when they fall flat. Whether I replace my iPhone with an Android device is becoming more and more of a toss-up as the years go on. It’s sad I’ve been pushed in this direction

Sorry crappy joke. I have a terrible iPhone XR which I am upgrading from.
In that case the iPhone 16 will be a solid but expensive upgrade. Don’t know your budget or how deep you are into Apple’s ecosystem. But I can only say that there are cheaper and more potent possibilities around. It’s good to compare before you make any decision.

It happens. If they don’t work for you, I say move on and leave them behind. I would rather you or anyone else make that decision rather than feeling the need to vent here after every announcement. At the same time I’m not against holding them accountable. However, Apple has transitioned into a Toyota type brand. You go to them for stability and reliability. They aren’t going to have the newest capabilities as soon as they are available or when you feel they should have them. They take their time and bring capabilities to market when they feel they have a handle on it and can incorporate them into their ecosystem meaningfully.

Toyota BEZ4 was chosen as the least reliable car in 2024 and apples stability of hard- and software hasn’t grown either in recent years 🤔

When you think about all the production of products ... I am amazed.
Buying: new iPhone, Watch, Airpods. And then we still have November for new Macs: iMac and Mac mini.

Overall, is anyone buying a Chevy over Toyota for reliability? I mean it’s okay to point out one bad point. OVERALL I don’t think Toyota/Lexus or Apples reliability can be matched, in their respective markets.

No wonder why Warren Buffett sold that many Apple shares this year. Curious how sales will result next year end.
Yep, Apple's stock price went nowhere. It's as if the event didn't even happen. Or more to the point, the analysts already priced in the predictably meh.

I'm actually curious if many other people have recently switched from iPhone to the Google or Samsung flagships. iPhone is progressively falling further and further behind, it just takes a flagship Android user to show an iPhone user a few of the key features that iPhones don't have.

Does anyone have any thoughts on which color Pro will be the least susceptible to scratching? I am thinking of upgrading from a black 14 Pro Max and it got scratches on the bezel from dust getting between the phone and the case I was using.
I have the blue 15PM and have some chipping on the sides just from using a case. I’ve never dropped my phone without a case.

I had big expectations for this event but it ended up as one of the most boring and innovation-empty Apple event ever.

While I do understand their approach based on the idea of not being the first one to introduce an innovation but be the best one in implementing it, I do believe this has been pushed too far...

Micro-incremental is the new incremental nowadays at Apple and this shows, in my opinion, a lack of vision on where you want your eco system to go over the next 2-3 years, apart from making a lot of money, as usual.

It looks like the financial side became the dominant gene at Apple, while their Mission Statement clearly says To bringing the best user experience to customers through innovative hardware, software, and services.”

When you start to move away from you mission it's never a good thing, especially if you consider that Apple is not struggling at all from a financial stand point!

I call this "short-termism".

I really hope to see Apple focusing more on product innovation, increase their risk appetite and come again to the live stage with the iconic "one more thing"!

Last but absolutely not least, no more pre-recorded events, please! Covid has gone long time ago and a live event would better connect Apple with their customer base and maybe discourage the adoption of this micro-incremental approach.

No one is eternal...
