While we didn't have a full-blown Apple event today, it has felt almost as busy as one with Apple announcing updates for three significant product lines: the iPad, iPad Pro, and Apple TV. All of the coverage from today can be tough to keep up with, so check out our video recap of the announcements and a list of our news article below.

In addition to the hardware announcements today, we also learned about release dates for iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura, and Apple also seeded to developers the final versions of iOS 16.1, watchOS 9.1, and tvOS 16.1 that will be released to the public next week.

iPad

iPad Pro

Apple TV

Software and Other Updates

The new iPad, iPad Pro, and Apple TV models are all available to order now with the iPad and iPad Pro launching next week on Wednesday, October 26, and the Apple TV launching on Friday, November 4.

Immediately ordered an iPhone SE 64GB and an iPad 9th Gen 64GB 4g+LTE

It's simply awkward to reach your thumb to the lower portion of screen without a home button or pick up an iPad without bezels.

Tim's Apple is ruining all design philosophies from SJ

Thanks Tim
I’d say you made a great choice—I love both those devices. Probably would’ve gone for at least 128GB for the SE, though, but we’re different people with different use cases.

I’ve learned to live with smaller bezels by using this truly terrific case protector, and I find Face ID works pretty well, but it’s a 50/50 crapshoot as to whether or not I’ve picked up my ipad right-side-up or upside down.

SJ is dead... move on now. You don't have to like the new designs but bringing SJ up after 11 years, having no clue what he may or may not design these days, is silly.

The "new" iPad is such a colossal fail, I'm flabbergasted. What could have been a great update turned into a mishmash mess, and I'm so bummed by it.

And I seriously wanted the yellow one, too! But not with all those asterisks.
I feel the same exact way. I’m holding on to my 9th gen. But those colors sure are pretty

Been wanting to replace my 2015 mini for about a year now and was really hoping for an M2 mini announcement but Maybe Apple is thinking that an M2 mini could cannibalize mac studio sales, especially as options are added. October isn't over but my hopes have been kind of dashed. The price on the TV looks decent but I have the previous model so don't "need" that. I'm not a pad user so those releases don't mean much to me.

The $129 Apple TV was about the only thing that I found positive. The rest was underwhelming, the new 10th gen iPad is nice but fits in a weird spot with a price point that makes little sense. I am sure that iJustine will be showing off all the colors shortly and praising it for being awesome on YouTube pretty soon.

How is this insulting? Can you enlighten me?
You release the new ipad - with a USB-C adapter for lighting for the older gen Apple Pencil.
Why not just add support for Apple Pencil 2?

The you add the landscape on a base iPad -> and you don't do the same on iPad Pro which is the most used in that orientation.

Then you release an iPad Pro M2 - which adds nothing to the table - and the price for gap between M2 iPad pro vs M1 iPad pro in Europe is somewhere between 400 EUR for a nothing upgrade.

Now go to sleep enlightened friend.

Apple needs to simplify the iPad lineup. Its becoming the new 'Performa'.
Yep, driven by marketing to close pricing gaps with compromises to upsell you the Air.

I absolutely hate the strategy to keep last year's model as the entry-level product, and justify the price of an in-between product that serves no purpose but to upsell you the pricier model that technologically makes more sense.

The new iPad is cute and all, but completely overpriced for what it is. And they totally killed me with that Lightning-to-USB-C adapter needed to charge the 1st gen Pencil, it's just comical.
