How is this insulting? Can you enlighten me?

Not quite as insulting as “you no longer have to deal with a SIM card!” but in the same spirit.

No Ethernet port on the 32GB Apple TV. No Find My in the remote. No headphone jack on iPad. Also Apple Pencil 1st gen is still around to confuse things. 6E on the iPad Pro which doesn’t make sense at this point. CPU being the only real upgrade on the iPad Pro whose least problem is CPU.

I think that about covers it. At least they didn’t give us a patronizing presentation about it this time.

All cost cutting, ethernet costs money, headphone jack cost money, adding magnetic charging to the iPad for the Pencil 2 costs money.. They don't want to raise prices you know.....

"What do I know, I'm just a guy making this video!"

LOL that made me chuckle since this is the most influential Mac site on the internet and MacRumors might be the most important influencer site in the world.

The thing I find interesting is the iPad Pro pricing. Its wild right now! An m2 256GB iPad Pro with keyboard costs more than a MacBook Pro 13 inch m2 with 256mb. About $200 more. The odd thing is that you can do 80% of the what the new iPad Pro can do with even the 2018 iPad Pro or an iPad Air which cost half the price.

I dont know where all this is going. There must be a lot of people buying these things at top price. Apple isn't one for continuously making products that aren't selling well.

The thing is this is really being priced as an alternative device to a MacBook, not a companion device. So is the future for the desktop really iPadOS? Does this tie in to their AR devices somehow? Also, what is the bet that they make an iPadOS with a MacBook form factor? With stage manager etc.. its all starting to make sense.

The Apple community thinks that Apple is destined to put macOS on the iPad. I think its the other way around. IpadOs goes on the Mac.

I get the feeling there is a real wholesale change about to happening as to what is the future of apple desktop machines and it doesn't look like its macOS somehow..

You release the new ipad - with a USB-C adapter for lighting for the older gen Apple Pencil.
Why not just add support for Apple Pencil 2?

The you add the landscape on a base iPad -> and you don't do the same on iPad Pro which is the most used in that orientation.

Then you release an iPad Pro M2 - which adds nothing to the table - and the price for gap between M2 iPad pro vs M1 iPad pro in Europe is somewhere between 400 EUR for a nothing upgrade.

Now go to sleep enlightened friend.
Nope, still not insulting.

So... what about the Macs? Do we think they'll do another day of press releases like this?
If the Mac updates are about a brand new Mini-Mini Mac that is battery-powered because it's a desktop the size of an Apple TV, but is powered with an A chip, can only run iOS apps, requires a wireless mouse and keyboard combo that costs more than half the damn thing to begin with, looks great with the Studio Display nobody cares about, but it opens up a world of endless magical possibilities - then yes, by all means, let's go for press releases we can laugh at and forget about in the same day.

What is the big fail with the 10th gen iPad, except for the obviously dumb Apple Pencil 1 charging issue?

Having to plug the pencil in to charge is an issue. But the fact that the pencil is lightning while the iPad is now USBC is utterly absurd. Not only do you have to continue to plug it in, but you also now need an adapter that they charge $10 for. On a new product. In 2022. Made the largest/most profitable company in the world. Apple, ladies and gentlemen.

Its not always about money I think. The ethos is a device that will eventually need no connectors. The Apple Watch for example is where they are gunning for, but for a main device. Right now the laws of physics seem to be denying them. Bluetooth has too much latency , wi-fi/iCloud cant transfer data faster than a thunderbolt drive, Airplay cant play a full quality signal with no latency to a tv etc..

But if all the above gets better they will see no need to have any ports at all. Your device will just connect and sync with everything. That's the utopia. But we just aren't there yet.Maybe 5 yrs away?

It's worse than that, the pencil is lightning while the iPad is now USBC. So not only do you have to continue to plug it in, but you also now need an adapter. On a new product. In 2022. Made the largest/most profitable company in the world. Apple, ladies and gentlemen.
Like I said before, they would have had to add the magnetic charging system into the iPad and that would have cost money. I would almost put money on that being the reasoning behind the Apple Pencil 1 still being used with this iPad.
