Apple customers like options. Thus Apple provides options (at different price points) to their 1+ Billion active and repeat happy customers who have made Apple becoming one of the most successful consumer tech companies in the world. Simple.
Customers want what Apple will convince them they need. Wasnt that the whole idea behind Steve Jobs comeback in Apple? They are spreading way to thin now.

That was my assumption, too, but I was holding out hope since the Apple TV doesn't really fit with either product perfectly in a presentation
Not sure it’s going to be ready by then, but Apple could preview that new rumored home platform as a “One More Thing” in October with a release in March 2026. That could easily be tacked on to the end of an iPad Pro presentation. Or it’ll just be a week of press releases every morning again.

Apple Watch has been a disappointment to say the least. Literally the same watch for the last 10 years. Apple has truly run out of the ideas what they can do with AW.

They are one of the largest companies on Earth and they manage fewer products than the gas station around the corner from my house. Few companies are going to be successful at every level of spend in 2025 with pared-down product offerings. Apple should be offering way more options, including a wider array of wearables and their own smart home offerings, too.

Lol, the Pro Max can last maybe 1 day and a half with regular use and you think a phone the size of a usb port is going to have great battery life?

You claimed the iPhone Air "can't last half a day off the charger."

Was wondering who your credible source was.

The final arbiters are Apple's 1+ Billion active and repeat customers. I wouldn't cast a wide net jumping to the conclusion they have no agency in their lives (and are thus sheep) - that's a convenient copout trying to rationalize Apple's massive success. Apple has many competitors.

Im so on the fence for a new watch. The Garmin fenix 8 Amoled DLC-titan 47mm or the AW ultra 3. Ive had several apple watches but changes to Garmin a few years back and just love the extra battery time. Only feature Im missing on Garmin is Apple pay (but Garmin pay works fine) and GSM so I can train without bringing along my phone. All the other features with million apps on AW was fun for 3 days but after that never really used as it was more conveniant to just use the phone. So AW Ultra 3 with 4-5 days battery and Im buying it. Otherwise its gonna be a new Garmin
Would it be nice to have longer battery life? Yes, but I feel like its not that big of a deal to put on charger every two days or so.

I could imagine the outrage/complaining if Apple released new AWU and was charging $1300 and $2000 for them.

I’ve never owned an Apple TV. Can you tell me what you’re looking for in terms of upgrades and why it makes a difference from the current model?
I think the short answer is NO.

As a media player for 4k TVs, the current Apple TV 4K gets the job done and most deficiencies could be addressed by a software update. It's doing a job that could be done by an old-model Raspberry Pi but for the lack of certain proprietary apps (e.g. the popular streaming services).

As a gaming platform, maybe not, but I don't think that's a big seller for Apple...

Witness:

I'm in the market for a new Apple TV and HomePod Mini pair, so this is disappointing. There's no point in buying them now with rumors of an update on the horizon.
My current model is the Apple TV HD, which means it can't do 4k video and I have a new 77" OLED 4k TV.

I.e. it's really people with older models - plus maybe people thinking of buying their first ATV - being put off buying the current models by rumours of a new one. Apple could just bump the processor for the sake of making a new model to address this - then they'd get hammered for an uninspiring update. Really the need doesn't arise until 8k video starts becoming mainstream on the streaming services... if that ever happens (bearing in mind that even 4k doesn't start to pop until you put it on at least a 50" screen).

I think the whole consumer tech industry is starting to bump up against the "good enough" barrier.

Of course depends on the price I agree. But when Garmin can make a brilliant watch with bigger screen (up to 51 mm) in Amoled and now from next week micro-led and have included inReach sat coms or via LTE than Apple really needs to step it up. And that with at least 15 days battery with always on mode and up to 27 days in on/off mode the AWU2 just doesnt seem like a good buy. My current Garmin is closing in on 5 years and I still have 5 days battery and I work out 1 hour 5 days a week.... None of my Apple watches survived 2 years.
Garmin has better maps and workouts, and can track your dog even directly on it with GPS/VHF tracker. Its been through a lot but looks just like new besides switching the band. I just like the looks better for the AWU when Im not working out, otherwise Garmin wins on pretty much everything.

My credible source is that the 16 Pro Max gets about 17 hours of battery life. A phone half the thickness of it will get about half the battery life which is being generous.

I REALLY hope that they do not do a big event for such a incremental(and how many freaking years of incremental update on things) updates.. I don't know what the apple is thinking.. if you go to apple store these days, there is ZERO excitement. what a terrible leadership from TC

Sound logic 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nope... iPhone 17 Air uses Apple's new modem chip which consumes less power than Qualcomm's modem chip which was previously used in iPhones. And Apple's A19 chip with one less GPU core, also consuming less power.

I'll wait for a review from a credible source.

Another year, another cavalcade of “boring, snoozefest, Apple’s lost it” commentary.

It does seem like nothing Earth-shattering is coming this year, but this is bog standard Apple playbook stuff imo. There aren't too many more retina display-type jumps to make in hardware, and the incremental updates seem pretty good to me.

I’m looking forward to seeing what actually gets revealed next week.
The analysts don;t see the bigger picture. The average user upgrades every 3 years at which point the annual increments have snowballed. Apple is selling the iPhone 17 to people on a 14 or below. If you have a 15 or 16 then this isn't your time. Keep what you have and wait it out.

Phones are commoditised products now, as everyday as washing machines and refridgerators. How often do people 'upgrade' them or berate Zanussi or Hotpoint for a lack of innovation?!

Another misquote.

This doesn’t mean Apple will force you to use what they think you should. It means people don’t know they wanted something until they see it and go “now that’s pretty cool” or “why didn’t I think of that”.

This goes along with people taking Jobs quotes about using a stylus on a phone and then criticizing the Apple Pencil saying Jobs would have never allowed it.
