I have the iPhone 8 Plus and it’s still on the upper left hand side of the screen
It seems to be tied to "Change with Buttons" setting in Sounds & Haptics page. If you have that setting enabled, the volume HUD will be horizontal and located near the top (same position as Silent Mode indicator). If it is disabled, upper left hand vertical control.

Hey @Apple, I appreciate that you're trying to be polite here, but you're going against your own user interface guidelines!

The buttons should be "Cancel" and "Sort", should they not? Maybe I'm confused by the guidelines, but I thought that Yes/No type buttons were a no-no? Instead, the buttons should be verbs, action-oriented.

Apple, don't lose sight of your high standards.

Until there's downloadable maps, there's no way I can replace Google Maps and thus still will use Google maps 99% of the time.

Do you travel outside of signal coverage areas frequently? I do monthly now, and I was surprised how poorly Apple Maps works when you don't have a cell signal. Even my gf's Android phone from years ago did GPS far better than Apple Maps does.

Sad that they chose SMB and not AFP. I know they seem to think SMB is the future but we still find AFP to be much more reliable

As an authoritarian tech company, I clearly can see this coming.

- SMB Server Connectivity - One of the new features in iOS 13 is an option in the Files app to connect to server using SMB. This feature wasn't working in the first beta, but is functional in beta 2, so iOS 13 users can do things like connect to a home NAS.

A good UX practice is to write in language that the user uses daily and never assume that they understand the language of business and what an acronym might mean.

What is an NAS?

Camera roll photos not working for me on iPhone XR. It opens but I can not open any of my pictures! Does anyone have this problem? Thanks.

CarPlay is incredible in iOS 13. The interface is a 1000x better, it’s smoother, and when you change apps, it doesn’t change the display on the car UI. So my car can have the multi view up with maps and Spotify, and my girlfriend can be looking up something in messages.

Oh and dark mode looks incredible. Swipe to text works flawlessly as well.

I’m a networking ignoramus. Does SMB here refer to a single specific network share protocol (SMB), or are other protocols like WebDAV and SFTP also supported in iOS 13?

So I’m still unclear on this- for “file access” via server shares or physically connected devices- does that mean apps could edit documents in place now, or can apps still only work on apps within their own confines?

Meaning, if I have a PDF file that starts off on a USB drive, and I want to add a page using app A, and mark it up using app B, could I edit it in place on the USB drive? Or does app A need to import it (copying it to the iPad), and then export a second copy to app B, and then resave the edited file back on the USB drive?

I tried with several different file types and I could not edit in place, only preview and copy.

The guidelines say “avoid,” not “must.”

Not a ton but I do periodically when traveling and/or camping. Additionally, it’s pretty common that my data stops working/is flakey/blocked in a parking garage. Google Map’s “offline mode” probably ends up being used at least once a week. Even if only for a minute.

I have an issue with Apple Music wanting time verify my subscription by sending a confirmation text but I never receive it. Any answers or work around a?

AirPod is not functional can’t double tap and when I take them out they continuously play music.

Either suits me fine.
I wish they would add SFTP/FTP to files natively too. It would save me having other apps.

Love that enhancements made to checklists in notes.

I would still like to see some sort of integration between reminders and calendar. There no reason why a reminder with a date alert shouldn’t show up in the calendar.

It will be confusing if it shows up in Calendar. You can use Up Next widget to check them all together though since all your events and reminders with a date will appear on that.

Speaking of this, does anyone know how to connect Files on iPad to access files on our Mac?
