Hope you're right, but I'll be staying on iOS 14 until they actually announce that.
I can see these 2 CSAM features eventually arriving.
  1. Messages: Given that it is opt-in and affecting only children and teenagers, I think most parents would applaud CSAM warning coming to Messages app.
  2. Siri and Spotlight: Likewise, CSAM disclaimer on the search results is also non invasive and therefore harmless.
But as for controversial CSAM change to iCloud Photos Library, I think Apple got the message and if it ever returns, it would be drastically different. My guess is server-side CSAM detection much like Google's, and I am guessing some governments (e.g., EU) will mandate it.

Agreed, not really sure why the change from 3 to 8 seconds. Hope they make it optional or at least give us an option to toggle between the two choices.

The whole purpose of SOS gets defeated this way with 8 seconds. Come to think of it, even 3 seconds can be too many.

Last week my phone accidentally called 911,that's first 911 call in my life, I have no idea how this happened... I searched and disabled everything in setting that I can, hope it won't happen again, and if there is way to completely disable it.

My issue with notification summaries is that they can't effectively be presented quietly.

Notification summaries always pop up on the homescreen allowing anyone to glance and see what apps you have and potentially hints about the content of the notification (e.g. twitter) even when the screen is locked. I would prefer if notification summaries could be only presented in the notification center.

So it’s good for accidental presses (despite five being unlikely to happen by accident), but say a woman or minor is being abducted, five clicks in the pocket and BOOM - emergency services are about to be notified. It’s a shame you know have an alarm blasting signaling the criminal who might be able to cancel before the countdown/call/tracing. Maybe this is a rare scenario but it seems counterintuitive to me.

That’s a misunderstanding. The messages safety feature has nothing to do with CSAM, and simply does on-device-only scanning for what seems like nudes. It then warns the child and, for accounts for children aged below 13, notifies the parent of the child decides to watch it anyway.

Notifications in iOS 15 are still awful compared with android 12. Wtf apple. Just copy them.

Of course not. They are just playing good boys right now, like we are care about yours privacy but what we really do is scanning your phone constantly. Sleazy af.
My guess is that Apple will only scan the photos, documents, etc. that it hosts on their servers(including ones they have control over but don’t own) because just the act of hosting these images is criminal and also actionable in civil law.

I upgraded to iOS 15.1 and noticed that my car no longer recognizes my iPhone to play music via USB. I’m glad I had a back up because I went back to iOS 15.0.2. I will wait for a newer update before I consider changing again.
No problems here on 15.1 or 15.2

Quite frankly, I don't give much of a damn about any of this until they fix the CarPlay issues.
When my iPhone 7+ works fine with CarPlay, but my iPhone 13 Pro Max won't work without crashing CarPlay every 3 minutes, that's a more important issue to fix.
And yes, I turned off the EQ and changed the background to black

I agree CarPlay has never been so crappy. Switch screens, volume drop to almost nothing. This happens daily. Freezing CarPlay screens. CarPlay crashes. Daily.

Yeah “ it just works”. Clearly total BS

I use a 11PM

Remember when iOS was simple and easy to use. No longer. It’s a complicated mess. Miss the days of my iPhone 5 with iOS 6. Never gave me issues. Battery lasted all day. Never even thought about apple scanning your phone or cloud.

Times have changed. Too bad. Current times suck. Would love to go back to the 1980’s. Much more fun.

I think they just put it at the end of the queue so it would not interfere with the launching all these hardware and software we're seeing. My guess is that it will come in a matter of months without any changes.
This is what I'm thinking will happen too. Hoping we're wrong.

I think the Messages thing is great actually, not sure about Siri and Spotlight since those require cloud processing right? If not, and it's opt out, nice.

As for the CSAM detection in Photos. Put it in the cloud and we're good. My only problem in this whole debacle is on-device scanning. I have zero issues with CSAM scanning, but I am not daft, I know it won't stop there.

A lot could happen in those 5 extra seconds.
I agree. This should be determined in settings to give consumers the option of 3 or 8 seconds. Though the majority would likely choose 3, there might be some with reason to want the longer delay. Let the default be 8… just my opinion.

Not sure I agree about the '50s, but iOS does have a near-ludicrous tome of lists and options in Settings.
