Degrading older models. They do it quite often. Why only iPhone 15 models? Clearly the percentage can be determined on every model.

I wouldn't stress it unless you keep your phones for 5 years.I don’t let my phone charge over night. This is how you get a low battery health.
Yep, it was the first thing I noticed in iOS 17 and I can’t stand it. I can’t find any way to stop it either.Wow, that sounds super annoying. So one always has to use the space bar now to reposition the cursor?
You can for sure but I don’t think shortcuts work when the phone is turned off. I haven’t tried myself but I’ve seen a few people claim that the 80% limit apply even with phone turned off. That shouldn’t be possible with shortcuts? Obviously Apple could still provide a version of this feature to older phones that works when the phone is turned on but Apple’s historically been pretty much all or nothing with feature support. That still doesn't make a lot of sense, because you can have a shortcut be triggered on a certain battery percentage (there's just no action to turn off charging then).
Well, you wouldn't if it only charged to 80%.I don’t let my phone charge over night. This is how you get a low battery health.
Hardly anyone ever turns their iPhone completely off AND charges it in that state, so it still seems strange. You can for sure but I don’t think shortcuts work when the phone is turned off. Ive found iOS 17 and the cursor don’t play well when the Apple Dictation (Dictator) voice to text is in use.I found a new feature with beta 2:
Safari randomly crashes while I’m typing a comment here. It’s happened 5 times so far. Can’t figure out what causes it.
UPDATE: figured it out. Any time I touch a word that has been autocorrected, Safari crashes. 100% of the time. And with iOS 17, accidentally selecting autocorrected words happens constantly now, as it will always select a word instead of repositioning the cursor, such as when I decide I want to reword something.
That is true but it’s pretty much the only reasoning for Apple to limit this feature to latest phones (outside the obvious encouragement to get people get new phones if they want latest features 😊).Hardly anyone ever turns their iPhone completely off AND charges it in that state, so it still seems strange.
Apple’s site:Well, you wouldn't if it only charged to 80%.
Yup. My day 1 13 Pro Max is still at 96% and I've charged it whenever, wired and wireless, left it plugged in all night (9/10 times) and never even restricted the charge to 80% ..I wouldn't stress it unless you keep your phones for 5 years.
Yeah I bought the white Twelve South Forté MagSafe stand used in Apple marketing during WWDC iOS 17 reveal. Very nice, but I don’t use it as much as I thought I would. I’m in a phase of my career where I don’t sit at a desk very often, and I don’t want to leave my phone on a charger all night.>Standby Display Options
Is anybody using this? I have a stand that I can wirelessly charge in landscape orientation, and expected to use the mode a lot. I used it for the first day, and forgot about it until I read this article.
My guess is some specific hardware updates for this purpose. Why only iPhone 15 models? Clearly the percentage can be determined on every model.
It’s also reported that custom tones can now be assigned to text and email notifications like it was in 16 and below.
I agree with you 100%. The new way to low sound can’t be heard even with volume all the way up. I’m missing security camera alerts and all kinds of other alerts in other apps. I’m also not getting the little red number next to any of the apps and I have notifications on so now I have to check these several times a day to see if I’ve missed anything.yes the original notifications are back that were introduced with iOS 17. this is bad for a few reasons. 1 it is difficult to hear. 2 if you are in an environment with any kind of noise you won't hear it. 3 [people with hearing issues may not hear it. I use voice over. The old reliable try tone was very useful and just worked. for anyone on the beta please quote feeback id FB13228878 and submit feedback to either bring back try tone or better yet allow the user to choose the notification tone. Thank you all for your help.
I wonder if it is due to battery degradation capacities....with the 15 models they are all FRESH, fully chargeable batteries. with anything older your 100% capacity may be lower in real terms. If they said all phones and your iPhone 12 could only MAX charge to 77% (current battery capacity) then it may error out or have issues. Why only iPhone 15 models? Clearly the percentage can be determined on every model.
Well, dang it. Did you post this on the Feedback app? I was hoping this issue would be resolved.Dangit the sounds are still super low.
Like wtf seriously.
Badges are missing too? I recently turned on notifications for Instagram (I've never had them on before), and I don't see any badges on IG. Everything else? Yes. IG? No.I agree with you 100%. Optimized charging is supposed to handle that.I don’t let my phone charge over night. This is how you get a low battery health.
I put mine on the charger every night. My launch-week 14 Pro Max has 97% battery health after one year.I don’t let my phone charge over night. This is how you get a low battery health.
