Honestly wondering the same cuz this seems like an automation we should be able to create ourselves anyway
Absolutely. There's no way there's as much advancement between last year's model and this one to make it exclusive? The phone is always monitoring charging, and if they want people to use standby, that means many of our phones will be close to 100% all day, which I'm guessing is bad for the phone, right?

It doesn't make any sense to me, especially since they don't seem to have explained why it's exclusive to the iPhone 15.

Anyone else having issues with their widgets after the beta 2 update on PadOS? the widgets I have in my go blank and reload almost every time I swipe to another page of apps or go in and out of an app. This is happen on my 2018 12.9 iPad Pro. This behavior just stated with the last two developers beta updates.

“prior Always On toggle that limited the display to turning off intelligently”

With the text that was written to describe the Always On toggle’s nonexistent functionality, I immediately wondered how someone could be so unaware as to write it or program it. So dumb.

I found a new feature with beta 2:

Safari randomly crashes while I’m typing a comment here. It’s happened 5 times so far. Can’t figure out what causes it.

UPDATE: figured it out. Any time I touch a word that has been autocorrected, Safari crashes. 100% of the time. And with iOS 17, accidentally selecting autocorrected words happens constantly now, as it will always select a word instead of repositioning the cursor, such as when I decide I want to reword something.
I found another new feature:

Autocorrect randomly decides to completely stop working. Noticed this when texting. The only way to fix it was to go into keyboard settings and toggle autocorrect off and on real quick. Then it’s back to working as normal.

After a full year I have 97% battery health on my 14 Pro Max...

I have a smart outlet, a 7.5 W magsafe bed charger and an automation that shuts the outlet off when battery hits 90%, and a couple more that turn it back on when it hits 30% or at 5 am... 🙄

So yeah, not charging fully most of the time seems to be good for the battery ... 🤢

A cable would've probably been even better, but convenience is king.

Reintroduced text tones any louder than before?
Is this why so many tone alerts went missing from being heard?? Drives me crazy since updating - my phone rarely alerts when I have a text, not all haptics work, and do not disturb settings are crazy also.

Yep, same here, really annoying and inconvenient when you’ve already typed a couple of paragraphs and Safari bails on you. As if that word-grabbing auto-select that appeared a couple of updates ago wasn’t bad enough already…

Wow, that sounds super annoying. So one always has to use the space bar now to reposition the cursor?
Yeah, that and never allowing the word-grabber previously known as the keyboard to select a word.

Apple’s site:
“With 80% Limit enabled, your iPhone will occasionally charge to 100 percent to maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates.” 🤷🏽‍♂️
Battery has to be calibrated approximately every two weeks to prevent iOS from seeing 80% as fully-charged.

Yeah it drives me crazy. I just want to reposition my cursor like I used to, not select a word every time!

I’m having another new feature pop up:

Sometimes my keyboard randomly stops autocorrecting anything at all. I have to go into keyboard settings and toggle autocorrect off and on, then it starts working again.

Umm, well, all the time. The only time I ever put it on silent is at the movie theater. Sounds are better than no sounds.
Strongly disagree lol. If mines ever off silent it’s an accident. I just like the slight pulse on my watch. Perfect notification

Why only iPhone 15 models? Clearly the percentage can be determined on every model.
You know why. 💰
It was chosen purely for marketing reasons to be a "phone feature" rather than a software feature -- just like the always-on display for iPhone 14. I don't buy for a second that the LTPO and dynamic refresh rate was needed to display, say, a simple monochrome clock. Tons of phones have had that using any old OLED and it's fine. But they chose it to be a "phone feature" to incentivize people to upgrade.

Gotta keep those phone shredders at Apple "recycling" partners running at full speed!
