This is horrible. When Apple Design Team used to be the gold standard for its quality and "personality". Now when some beta user complaint this is no good and that is no good. Tim Cook just call the design team to rewind everything they have came up. This is totally an insult to the whole design team. This makes me think of the old joke but it is not funny any more.

the fact that this design is causing all this fuzzy just confirms that this was not a right choice. iOS 18 was good as it was and, to be honest, changing a whole design language with transparency was obviously a tricky choice, as it’s a very specific design. Apple clearly doesn’t know what it’s doing anymore. They’re just trying at this point.

On the plus side, the weird staticy gray shimmering in some fields, like the search field in the Maps app, is now gone.

As someone who is using iOS 26 and *like* Liquid Glass's transparency in most regards, they really should be setting the opaqueness as an option in Accessibility. Being able to see through stuff is nice in many occasions.
…like when?

you must have missed iOS 7 beta 1 , 2 , 3 and 4

Visibility has definitely improved but something is off about the screenshots in the article, Apple Music does NOT look like that for me

The glass effect seems completely absent from MacRumors’ screenshot but it’s very visible on my end

I don’t have that accessibility option to reduce transparency effects so maybe that’s why?

I honestly think Macrumors didnt even test beta in both light and dark mode

The designed change I felt was unnecessary considering that it's a lot they didn't deliver with iOS 18. We need way more functionality than visual looks. they are adding more power to their devices which seem to be more for the Gui then the actual functionality of the OS. instead of the useless glassy look they should have work more on apple intelligence and Siri. now don't get me wrong iOS 26 have some great functionality but most of the changes was for the Gui not the real functionality of the phone. Most of the issues that were in IOS18 are in IOS26. I am glad most of users are happy with this design, but being a true multitasker, I am starting to believe iPhone it's not for me I am glad I have a iPad which make things feel a little better, but I can't carry that around everywhere I go I can with my phone but very limited on what I can actually do and since IOS is still bad with ram management you always find apps restarting when you go back to it especially third party apps from the app store. I always had iOS and android devices but end up just sticking with iPhone not I am kind of regretting it because I can't really do much with iPhone, but I am glad everyone else is enjoying it. I will not be upgrading anytime soon it doesn't seem worth it to keep upgrading to get better hardware and no new real functionality to many false promises. I will be sticking with my iPhone 15 ProMax because I will not waste any more money with apple. hopefully things change keeping fingers crossed.

Why do I still have to press search twice in Apple Music? Why doesn’t it just open the keyboard when you press it? It’s so frustrating. They also need to let you change the menu bar so you can swap radio with your liked tracks or playlists, who is using radio. The origins of what you’re listening to isn’t obvious at times, is the app playing from my liked songs, is it playing from recommendations, there’s just no clear or obvious way - at times - to understand where music is playing from and how to get back there.

This is literally anti apple and I’m so disappointed. Steve “you’re holding it wrong” “I’ll tell them what they need” jobs would never have allowed this.
centered Apple logo in the original aqua, iMovie 06 being offered for free download after 08 complaints.
they have always tweaked things throughout betas and temporarily reversed controversial decisions due to feedback, even under Jobs.
Also, this is still beta three of 8 or 9, they will likely be messing around with this design all the way up through the RC and first several X.1/X.2 releases and beta cycles, getting feedback along the way.
A slider in the accessibility settings seems like an eventual compromise they’ll come to, or maybe having three different levels of transparency instead of just a switch.
I could imagine they’re eventually being three themes in the accessibility menu transparency reduced, frosted glass and Liquid Glass.

Not surprising. But also the one of the right isn’t liquid glass anymore - it’s just the tab bar with a different shape.

Looking at those two images, part of this appears that they added more of the (white in light mode) “edge effect” at the top and the bottom of scroll views. This causes the liquid glass to react to a lighter layer of color sitting between it and the content below.

did everyone including Macrumors ignore the white Haze layer under the glass button in light mode? i mean....

Honestly I think the glass was too much. Looks good sometimes, but the amount of battery and performance it drains will never be worth it.

So much time and effort on colors and stuff like that. When will Siri stop telling me it cannot "show me" what I am asking for because I am driving? Alexa is much better than Siri and everyone is waiting for Siri to respond like ChatGPT or Gemini. I spend so much time driving that I really need a real personal assistant and not the crappy Siri we have now.

To be honest Siri did everything in beta 1, in beta 2 it stopped reading messages on CarPlay. Maybe it is a WhatsApp issue. It did everything I wanted - called the person I asked for, navigated where I told to, wrote a message pretty darn good. Of course in general it’s still 💩 But on CarPlay it did everything on beta 1.
