Wow, that's going to be 24/7 notifications for us folks in the west of Ireland then.😂

give it an Irish traditional tune, you'll be happy all day..!

I’m not surprised by this type of post. Apple updates the weather app with fantastic features and as usual it’s never enough….when it comes to Apple. Every other company gets a pass especially for being mediocre. 🙄

Many people are not happy unless they have something to complain about. It gives them a sense of having power, something that may otherwise be lacking in life.

Wouldn't this be a great app if it allowed 3rd party plugin apps like you can use with Photos?

My only wish is for the ability to rearrange the information boxes in the app. I'd love to put the map at the bottom (since I rarely use it) and have sunrise/sunset, humidity, wind direction and atmospheric pressure under the forecast.
Same here, the spacing and icons make the interface appear customizable. They look similar to widgets, yet you can't make a widget of one of the data points, only a widget for forecast.

Thank you!! That other poster I quoted missed my point entirely. He claimed he was referring to other brand apps as well as Apple when complaining but my point is when it comes to Apple it's always a complaint only rather any amount of praise. This weather app update is very substantial and what I would like to see people do here is perhaps say something like, "I like the upgrade, Apple did a great job, it offers some nice features I could really use but one other feature I could use is not present in this upgrade, but hopefully it may be added in a future upgrade". Instead they just jump right into what's wrong rather than what's right which is a constant thing around here. The cup half empty rather than the cup half full. I wonder if people here would appreciate their employer constantly criticizing their work and never offering praise or appreciation?

This in conjunction with RadarScope is great. I don’t mind having multiple weather apps. Currently weather line has my favorite interface but the forecast modeling seems to be very hit or miss recently compared to dark sky. But again, RadarScope provides real-time radar that can’t be beat.

My local swimming pool uses Weatherbug because it indicates the nearest lightning strikes. If it's within 10 miles, they close the pool. This is nice to know before I drive all the way over there. Apple Weather appears to have everything but lightning distance, so it's with Weatherbug I must remain.
I hate using WeatherBug because of the invasive privacy practices because they are an Ad delivery company using weather as the hook. The lightning Detection is one of the reasons I keep it.

Not at all. Apple should be proud of the new Weather app.

I will still use CARROT Weather, but for a vast majority of people, Apple's Weather app is the best weather app out there.
So good, in fact, that they bought in a third party app, closed down its public API and then replaced their own with it.

Also if there are many weather stations close to you. Often the reported temperatures vary by as much as 5 degrees.
You should use Centigrade in place of Fahrenheit. That way you'd almost halve the number of degrees of variance.

An an European, I was already referring to Celsius/centigrade 😊
I remember when I visited Italy a few years ago. In one city, the temperature on the wunderground map varied between 19 and 24 degrees Celsius

I think results vary because everyone with a weather station can connect to wunderground, and not everyone is careful placing his weather station (directly in sun, in only shadow, under a shelter etc)

I honestly like the stock weather app better than pretty much all others (some would be better if I were willing to pay or weren't flush with annoying advertisements), but really like these changes.

The stock app is one of the few that lets you know how many minutes rain will last or how long until it will start and without it being buried.

Now get it on the iPad (and a calculator app too please).

That one! I am so over with the advertisement banners and ransomware to remove the obnoxious advertisements. To this day, I never understand why it is too much work for Apple to do the native iPadOS versions...
Considering iPhone apps will now scale down, just let us have at least the IOS versions if nothing else. For calculator that's probably better anyway.

That sunset tile goes in the wrong direction for people in the southern hemisphere - the sun goes from right to left, not left to right.

It'll be odd every time I look at it!
Apple’s target demographic IS more ignorant than the average person, mostly. Intelligent people with critical thinking skills aren’t the majority.

So yeah, including these four different types of twilight doesn’t make too much sense in weathers app. But could be punched into another setting toggle so people can enable it, given data is provided.
This is a weird discussion. Apples target market is probably just average people since they are a giant consumer corporation. And average people are average and have average knowledge. And that probably doesn’t include 4 different kinds of twilight. Which is specialized knowledge for specialized utility. Which is cool but trying to condescend to average people or Apple for catering to average people is … odd. Or maybe lacks awareness of what is common and what is specialized knowledge.

Still no detailed hourly breakdown. It’s pathetic how sorry apples stock weather app continues to be even after the Dark Sky acquisition. They literally have all the data now. Just integrate it or better yet just make the DS app default.

It would be nice if it used the old Dark Sky feature of using the device barometer to help inform the local stats - shame it was ditched as my reports no longer actually affect the forecast for my area...

I’m less concerned with the UI, and more concerned with the accuracy of the data, at least where I live.
I am in the UK, and I normally use the BBC Weather app, as there are often quite big differences between the forecasts given in each app, with the BBC version being more accurate.

I am favoring the evolution of the IO15 Weather App. Would like some more customization abilities.

I've used most weather apps and found Dark Sky to be the best, but I jumped off it due to it possibly going away and hoping Apple uses it's API. But Apple is still using Weather Channel.

Although pricy, Carrot Weather is my main go to now. It really is good and you can swap sources. Customization for phone iPhone and Apple Watch is A+. Notifications are spot on. It just simply works. I also rely on weather conditions for my job so the subscription is worth it to me for the accuracy.

I was about to say I am glad rain alerts are optional - I live in Scotland. It's not 'rain' unless the water is coming over the tops of your boots, and it's not 'wind' unless you have to lean into it to walk... They should just give us sun alerts. 🌞
