Why do you wish for the iPad to be a Mac?

I can’t speak for him but I think of it like this: Apple hasn’t been able to differentiate iPadOS from their other iOS implementations and as a result the iPad is somewhat limited in what it can do. Apple has tried maintaining a strong link between iPad and iPhone, but that appears to be a roadmap that’s played out. In order to extract more power and usefulness out of the device some of us believe that taking it more towards MacOS is the answer. Actual folders and a legitimate file system would help make it more useful. Multi-user accounts would make it more useful. There are many aspects of MacOS that iPad should be able to handle but doesn’t due to Apple’s insistence that it remain within the iOS locked down framework.

If they actually call it “Apple Intelligence” they should be prepared for the onslaught of memes and backlash when it makes the slightest mistake.

They’re going to have to walk a thin line. This will be in the discussion no matter what they say in the keynote:

That Much-Despised Apple Ad Could Be More Disturbing Than It Looks

Tech companies are running low on new experiences to offer us. A new ad for the iPad contains revealing hints of where they could go next.

Given the company's notorious secrecy, "Apple Intelligence" makes one think of humorless agents with dark sunglasses and black SUVs!

Seemingly this is going to be a major update, but I’ve learned from years and years of Apple hype, not to get my hopes up. Apple has become great at BS, and short on substance. 🤷‍♂️
BS? Get ready for a truckload. AI, the new Silicon Valley buzzword. Meanwhile we have devices with screaming high performance, more cores, neural engine blah blah being weighed down dragging around with and ever so slowly evolving ball and chain OS. Another non-event where they will remind us just how ohs so cool this is. Someone count and let us know the number of times they say AI.

My most hoped for change is new icons once and for all, the playskool icons that are like 15 years old now need to go. Lately I feel like my iPhone is a jitterbug compared to Android flagship phones.

What use cases have you got for it?
Where should I even start? I am a developer and these things spontaneously come to mind. I am sure I have forgotten to write down many things, but here are some of my use cases:

Work:

• Explain code
• Search for performance issues in the code
• Correct code
• Generate unit tests for methods
• Proofread emails and chat messages in MS Teams
• Explain customer requirements with easily understandable examples
• Create APIs
• Explain tech stacks and protocols

Personal / Spare time:

• Research and advice on health topics and issues
• Gather knowledge and verify facts on various scientific topics
• Psychological advice
• Solve mathematical problems
• Tips and tricks for computer games
• Ideas for game development
• Cooking ideas/recipes
• Summarize news
• Explain song lyrics
• Translate messages and chat messages from Spanish, Russian, German, and English into my native language and vice versa
• Planing trips

I am buying a used 2019 Mac Pro.
I cant see spending $2600 plus for A Mac Studio you cant repair or upgrade. $2500 for a super heavy quality 2019 Mac Pro is better. All this Artificial Inelegance being added into the OS scares the crap out of me. you no longer have any privacy in your own home. I'll stay back on Sonoma with a 2019 Mac Pro. Own something that can be fixed and upgraded.

"What's next... his haircut and glasses?"

Looking forward to RCS and the improvements to Siri, if they materialize. Not interested at all in OpenAI integration which I’m half betting will turn out to be another very useless and potentially criminal enterprise just like the crypto stuff from SBF by the time everything is said and done. I think it’s a huge mistake to marry Open AI into Apple hardware.
In the meantime, on planet Earth, people are using it and finding it quite useful.

Criticizing how Tim Cook dresses...so silly and immature. And for what purpose other than being able to feel good taking a swing at TC and Apple.

What's next... his haircut and glasses?
Why does it bother you so much? Just ignore it and move on.

Very little of interest to me, at least on iOS. I suppose RCS compatibility will be useful when messaging those with Androids at the very least. Maybe the Apple Music stuff.

I’d be more interested in what’s coming in macOS, but it doesn’t seem like much. Hopefully the Settings app improvements are worth while.

Doesn’t seem like there is going to be any sort of ‘revolution’ with iPadOS.
