I'm just going to get the SS. Yes it's a first generation but I don't like the way the sport looks. There's no point in buying something that I don't like how it looks considering it's something I'll have to wear.

I'm still wondering what the space grey actually looks like. It's very difficult to tell from the few pictures I've seen. If it's the same color and finish as the back of my iPhone, I would love that and would purchase it. But in the pics it looks a lot darker, close to the color of the band. From the pictures I've seen, I would almost go with the silver aluminum, but we'll see.

I'm liking this leather loop, now :)

This was posted yesterday, not the best photo but it looks close to the iPhone 6 space gray

Hmm ok. I thought I read somewhere that the watch syncs with an atomic clock or something once in a while to be accurate.

I think the watch is very dependent on the phone. I do not think there is an atomic clock receiver. It would update the time every once in a while from your phone which gets official time from the Internet

Anyone else see any real world pictures of the Space Grey Sport?

I kind of like the look of the regular aluminum with the black band, and I'm worried the Space Grey will look weird with a brown leather band, but if it's the same as the iphone 6 Space Grey I think I would be alright.

It looks a little darker than the i6 but personally, I love the combination of black modern hardware combined with a nice brown leather band. I'm going to purchase a band from Bas and Lokes as soon as I can grab an adapter.

Now that looks a lot closer to the iPhone space gray. The other one must be the space black SS. And I think the other pic somebody just posted must also be space black, because that one looks a lot darker, that's not gray.

It depends on the lighting and angle. Even the picture I posted both models are the same color but both look different side by side.

We shall see soon, I really hope not though.

"Requires iPhone 5 or later."

Unfortunately, I don't think it can do anything without at least pairing it at first with an iPhone. Then you can take it out of range and use it for music, photos, etc, but it seems to me from the reviews I've read that the first thing you have to do is set it up which is all done through the Apple Watch app.

It's the lighting. That is 100% a Space Grey Apple Watch in the photo I posted.

A wise choice OP. I am doing the same. I would have wanted the SS, but it will be like the iPhone, it will get old and the battery won't last as long. Next year, I'll have a better idea as to what I want. Until then, I'll save the money.

For the price difference, especially SS black, I will buy a new iPhone 6s/7 unlocked, as I have been doing.

that looks like the stainless steel black, if you look close it looks like it has the black circle on the outside of the crown, the aluminum models don't have that.

All the crazy people on this forum managed to talk me into getting the SS :p, but now my expectations are back to reality and I am 100% going back to getting the Sport. All the smudges and scratches on the SS didn't sit well with me either. In fact, I already feel stupid for spending $400 on a somewhat 'unfinished' product.

Seeing how far from perfect this 1st generation turned out, it is now without question that a new model (gen 2) will happen sooner rather than later. I'd also wager that we can expect some fairly steep discount for the holidays.

I will own this thing for less than a year. Aside from cosmetic differences, sapphire, scratches, blah blah blah... for $200 I don't give a ****.

The end of the crown has a ring that causes light to reflect in a different angle but across the surface cap uniformly, which plays tricks on the eye in that lighting. It is a Space Grey watch.

Edit: And if that is not enough, you can see the same effect here. The Watch is undoubtedly a few shades darker than the i6, at least it was when they announced it.

Why would anyone care about smudges on SS? All nice watches are at least SS and they look fine.

I don't like the Sport. Looks cheap.

My bad! that does look a lot darker that the iphone to me.

I've followed this project very closely since day one. As of the present moment I've read every review that's listed by Google.

I expected a mixed bag of reviews and take each of them rather lightly. I haven't been swayed one way or another.

This is true, but there is something about the SS against a black screen that just looks strange. It reminds me of the old school iPods with the shiny edges.

I've STARTED to work my way through all the new reviews and videos. Not good.

I'm now seriously considering downgrading to the Sport. My head tells me I can't justify so much money on a very 1st generation product.

My heart wants an SS, though I still have no idea which band. Need to watch more videos.

But the Sports is very much back on the table.

The reviews are what I expected. It's a first generation Apple device, and Apple has a history of significantly improving their devices in the second and third generations. My advice is to go with the one that you think looks the best on you and don't look back. Unless sales are completely flagging, Apple might delay the "next generation" a bit to get back on cadence with the iPhone. If they do release an update in 6 months, so what? Then surely the 3rd generation will be better than the 2nd generation, etc.

Looks great. Fully justifying me wanting to go for this model. Even if I have to wait a bit for it.

I'm not entirely sure that the first few pics that they list are of the same watch as the rest of the pictures. The coloring is very different, even the crown coloring. The later pictures do show what appears to be a gray watch, more like the picture from the other poster.
