We all got to remember that to some the most important thing in their lives is the iPhone 6. For some it is due to the cost and to others it is an iPhone!

Later in life "other" things will rise above this event for sure!

Anybody else fearing the dozens of coworkers asking to fondle your new phone on Friday? I know some people like the attention, but I just want to enjoy my phone in peace. I tend to baby my stuff and can't stand grubby hands carelessly fumbling with my pristine iPhone.

I already have a feeling that by the end of the day Friday, my phone is going to be tainted with stupid office photos, random outgoing calls and smudges from greasy faces.

I feel like calling in sick...
Put that phone in case, and put a little samsung logo over it. They won't ask questions.

Wow. A lot of anger in this thread but the OP had a legitimate concern.

More than any other phone since the iPhone 1, people are going to be curious about what you got. So to suggest you "don't show it to them" is silly because what are you supposed to do? Sneak into a bathroom stall whenever you send a text? Carry a stylus so people think it's a Note 3?

You are going to continue using it like a phone and unfortunately it will get peoples attention. So, If you were raised to live in a civilized society, then you have to be courteous enough to acknowledge you indeed do have "that new thing that everyone else doesn't have". And that brings attention that not everyone really wants.

Wow, there is a really simple fix for this. Lock yourself in your room and never leave it, then no one can ever see, touch, taint or smudge your pristine phone.

I call BS. The only thing early adopters love more than getting the phone first, is other people noticing they got the phone first. They typically pull it out in public hoping someone will ask 'hey, is that the new iPhone?' Maybe they don't want strangers pawing it at....but a lot of them like being noticed for having the new phone.

Leave the plastic on the phone until after everyone has gotten a hold of it.

While I understand that some people might not have an issue with this, it's actually a real concern for me and others - and not just for a new shiny iPhone 6, for any expensive and/or precious item that we own. There's nothing wrong with being worried about the attention, but there are answers:

If you feel like you work with people who will notice and ask to touch, decide beforehand how you will answer. No matter what you say, be firm. Don't let anyone guilt you into handing it over if you're really not comfortable with it.

If you don't feel like you can fight off requests with words, then I would suggest avoiding using it around those people if possible. Yes, they should respect your wishes to not touch your stuff, but if you don't feel confident enough to tell them off, your only option is avoidance. Or a totally discreet case.

(As a side note, if you're not good at telling people NO that's a skill worth working on... )

To all of you saying "keep it in your pocket" that's easier said than done. If it's the 6+ half of it is going to stick out. :p

I can say that because I ordered a 6+. :)

How about if you have one on launch day you just be happy you're not waiting until mid-November like some people.

If someone cared about an iPhone, they would have one already ordered and most likely be getting one friday so I think you will not have to worry about people trying to put their greasy little hands on your phone.

Now if somehow you brought in a talking robot, maybe your coworkers would pause to talk to your robot but I'm guessing you don't have a talking robot to distract your coworkers with so they won't notice your iPhone?

What if I'm driving and suddenly a flash mob starts chasing me because they see I have the new phone?

Should I stop and let each person fondle my phone.

Hey OP? Since you can't say "NO", PayPal me cash. Now. Do it. I'm waiting.

Oh... Didn't actually think that'd work. Um... Thanks?

People need to grow a set.

That's not true. There are people that ordered and won't get it for weeks. There are people that are eligible for upgrade.
And then there are what I run into a lot, Andriod users. When my coworkers get new phones we always have a show and tell because most of us have different phone completely. I really like johns HTC OneX when we got that a few years ago. Another guy has a Nokia 920, which is terrible and heavy.

But yeah. That's what I find. Many people can't get one or don't want one but are still interested in the device.

I've been carrying my iPhone 6+ wood mock-up to work with me everyday for the past week; practicing how to covertly retrieve it from my pocket to make phone calls.
Oh, in that case, I don't think you'll have any trouble with people asking to hold your new iPhone. I suspect they already steer clear of you.

I've already had like a dozen people at work ask me if they can play with it. I'm like yeah....no.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I generally have great coworkers. So if somebody asked to check it out, go for it. If you break it you buy it, but other than I'm not that ocd.
