Hello, I own a mid 2012 15 inch. I had also got a Mura spot as well on my screen. Just out of warranty from my previous screen replacement because in the Apple Store guy scratched the screen, the warranty ended Oct. 6 for me. But they replaced it anyway. Gotta get a case for it. When I was traveling with the new screen last time. It was marked on the edge.

The later you wait, the more likely you'll just get a screen replacement. My screen was originally replaced in Hong Kong, noe replaced in Canada. Works perfect. I would just call Apple to leave notes for the future. The macs can be serviced anywhere. Jair not iPhone and iPads because of different model numbers available.

Good Luck! ;):)
Hey thank you so much for the reply :)

Sorry, I didn't understand you got a screen replacement even when your machine was out of warranty just because the apple store guy scratched it? Could you elaborate a bit on what you mean by saying"the later you wait, the more likely you'll just get a screen replacement?"

Also is the Mura spot a manufacturing defect and covered under warranty or could they blame you for it?

What usually causes the Mura spot?

So this is your second screen replacement, correct?

Lastly If you could please tell me the display model with which your screen was replaced,
does it suffer from Backlight bleed, an uneven tint or ghosting issue and also what is the model number for the same display.

Thanks a ton again, its great to finally hear from someone who has gone through the similar issue :D

The later you wait, the older the computer right. You don't get a great of service options for the macbook, i think it depends from what apple store or service place your at. My screen was replaced because the Apple store had scratched it.
I'm not sure what causes the Mura spot but i've had my mid-2010 for 5 years and nothing happened to it. Yes this is my second screen replacement

The model of my display is LG, no ghosting, no backlight bleed, but the screen isn't as white as before maybe. I can live with it.

Thanks again for the prompt reply :)

Oh but does the Mura spot count as manufacturing defect or not and if so how to pitch it to the AASP, the AASP in my area aren't that well acknowledge with the Retina Macs and their components hence I need to pin point every detail and explain them what the problem is.

It is more like you're doing the diagnostic and giving them the report so they just replace the faulty hardware.

So are you suggesting that I should wait a little more so my computer is older, sorry I'm confused.

Also in the previous post you mentioned that your mis 2012 15inch MBP (which I presume is the retina one) had a mura spot but you can't compare that with your 2010 MBP (unibody) because the unibody MBP have a glass layer to protect the screen unlike the Retina version hence the Retina are much fragile.

I had a previous 13inch 2009 MBP and till today, I haven't had the need for getting it serviced even once :)

I think it depend on who takes on the case, as long as you don't have any physical damage, it should be covered, take some pictures with a camera in a dark room to show that spot like my picture, get it done a soon as possible! They should replace it as long as they are able to reproduce the problem. what do you mean by glass layer?, aren't they both glass?. This physical, not diagnostics, it's not like a dead motherboard

Well the Unibody macbook pro has a protective layer, an extra layer that adds protection towards the screen unlike the retina ones.

I am going to be dealing with the Executive Relations guy who had sent me this machine as a replacement to my previous one.
I am just concerned that he doesn't say it is a user end damage.

My mac doesn't have any physical damage nor any scratches on the screen so I hope it should be fine.

I know it is physical but they still diagnose the screen and run some test, I don't know what though.

You mentioned the screen isn't white as before, well that is one of my major concerns I do not want to end up with a yellow tinted screen :(

What is the model number of your screen, you can check it here

About this mac=>Displays=>Display Preferences=>color=>color lcd=>open profile=>scroll all the way down to apple display make and model number=>Model Number: A....

Model: 0000A00F
Make: 00000610
Date: C9CE8C80

Anyone decode this?
Well that seems to be a 2012 make if I'm not mistaken.
You just got the screen replaced right?

You can download switchResX and then go to color lcd and export EDID to find out when your display was exactly manufactured and by whom
