To open the Beta menu in Software Updates, run from Terminal open "x-apple.systempreferences:com.apple.Software-Update-Settings.extension?action=showBetaUpdates"
Thanks @bogdanw ! This is why!
The only command not working is the one to reinstate the Beta menu. I tried to remove the profile for No automatic downloads and restarted but no Beta menu appearing

What happened? Where can I see it’s beta?
Apple posts here when they release new updates. They might not update the page immediately but it doesn't normally take longer than a couple of hours.

And just as someone who keeps a close eye on the patches, I'll note that it would also be very strange for them to release an update to Sequoia that was not timed with a corresponding update to Tahoe.

Also, neither of my Macs are showing anything newer than 15.7.5 available.

Did you run any of the commands from earlier in this thread in order to try to "hide" the Tahoe update? Those were an alternate way to get you on the Sequoia beta track.

To “unenroll”, run sudo defaults delete /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.MobileAsset.plist MobileAssetAssetAudience
Is this what I should do now after having already installed 15.7.6 by mistake?
Or is there anything else to turn it back in order to get the official Sequoia updates and not the betas or RCs? I'd be a pain to wait til September with 15.8 or make a system restore.

So far it doesn’t do terrible things to make me decide to do a system restore
but I will be careful to update again before it’s the official one and tested by others

Thanks for your input, as I wrote before, even if my Mac doesn’t show Beta updates as it should 🙄
I have run the code that made it into Betas
I thought it didn’t work because in Settings there is no Beta Updates showing up

Yes. After running it, you should see Tahoe 26.4 and the final version of 15.7.6 as an update when it will be released

Hm. For some reason, command returned the following.
Code:
sudo defaults delete /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.MobileAsset.plist MobileAssetAssetAudience
2026-04-07 11:38:22.344 defaults[37130:2869409]
Domain (/private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.MobileAsset.plist) not found.
Defaults have not been changed.

I had SoftareUpdate profile removed. I thought it might be connected to each other well I re-installed the profile and tried the terminal command again. Only to find the same output.

Or does it mean that I'm *already* off betas and RCs and on the official channel? Tahoe does display itself in Software Update section of the System Preferences.

If you see Tahoe, you are no longer on the Sequoia beta channel.
Running the same delete command multiple times will result in "not found".
To check the content of the com.apple.MobileAsset plist, you can run
Code:
sudo defaults read /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.MobileAsset.plist

Thank you for your help, @bogdanw
Here's the output of the suggested command -

Code:
sudo defaults read /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.MobileAsset.plist
Password:
{
    LastUsedBackgroundSessionID = "com.apple.MobileAsset.networking.background.v2";
    "MobileAssetServerURL-com.apple.MobileAsset.UARP.A2166" = "https://mesu.apple.com/assets/macos";
    "MobileAssetServerURL-com.apple.MobileAsset.UARP.A2363" = "https://mesu.apple.com/assets/macos";
    "PallasUrlOverrideV2-com.apple.MobileAsset.Trial.Siri.SiriTextToSpeech" = "https://gdmf.apple.com/v2/assets";
}

That looks OK.
All of a sudden, a new Safari 26.5 Seed 1 is now asking for update.
Is your Mac enrolled in the Developer beta program? That is MobileAssetAssetAudience 98df7800-8378-4469-93bf-5912da21a1e1.

I now have one Mac with the method described here https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/experimental-no-tahoe-for-sequoia.2480020/post-34528756
and one with https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/experimental-no-tahoe-for-sequoia.2480020/post-34527876 Neither show Tahoe or Sequoia beta 15.7.6.

Beta updates are off on my Mini M4. Would you mind sending the mobile.config via PM? Really would appreciate.

These will both require manual intervention to get 15.7.6 when it is actually released, right?
Yes. Specifically:
- deleting c8ba02c8-cc63-4388-99ee-a81d5a593283 & DeferUpdates60.mobileconfig
- deleting 02d8e57e-dd1c-4090-aa50-b4ed2aef0062

I was tired of seeing download activity from my Mac constantly downloading something
- in two days 15GB! -even with profiles and prefs set to not download anything.
BTW where all that data is ?!

For now I blocked it in LS and I’m living an easier life..😉

When an official 15.7.6 will be out I will unblock the nurlsessiond-updates
For now the horizon is almost clear
just the Safari beta that I don’t need and it’s less intrusive than seeing Tahoe hovering on my computer 🙂

Just for fun 🙂
Using a MobileAssetAssetAudience string not recognized by macOS, like “Go-Away-Tahoe”, makes upgrades and updates disappear.

Great news! The defer profile appears to be working again.
That may not be the case.
I had Software update set to get Sequoia Developer Betas, with NO defer profile installed.
When I tried turning off Sequoia Developer Betas and rebooting, still no Tahoe update appeared, as it used to.
Reverted back to Sequoia Developer Betas and am waiting for the next Sequoia RC.
Those RCs usually appear after Apple releases a Tahoe update, and 26.4.1 was released today, still no new Sequoia RC as of now.

Never mind, it was just a temporary glitch. When I tried, 26.4.1 was not available as full installer on Sequoia. As soon as it appeared, it’s back in Software Updates.
