Never mind, it was just a temporary glitch. When I tried, 26.4.1 was not available as full installer on Sequoia. As soon as it appeared, it’s back in Software Updates.

The Terminal command "softwareupdate --list-full-installers" also shows 26.4.1, so Apple has updated that list too, but it doesn't show a new Sequoia 15.7.6 RC, still at build 24G707.

Edit: As Bogdanw said "temporary glitch," Tahoe update now showing if the Developer Betas setting is turned off, and not showing if it is ON.

Am I reading it right and we have no way to protect against Tahoe as of right now?
There are two ways:
- enroll in Sequoia Public Beta program and defer updates
See @v1597psh post https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/experimental-no-tahoe-for-sequoia.2480020/post-34528327

- set MobileAssetAssetAudience to a value that is not recognized by macOS
Command from Terminal:
Code:
sudo defaults write /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.MobileAsset.plist MobileAssetAssetAudience -string Go-Away-Tahoe

Video https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/experimental-no-tahoe-for-sequoia.2480020/post-34532908

When a new update for Sequoia is released you have to
- set Beta updates to Off from Software Update & remove the defer profile, for the first method;
- remove the MobileAssetAssetAudience, for the second method

Code:
sudo defaults delete /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.MobileAsset.plist MobileAssetAssetAudience

Installed on an M2 MBA, no apparent isssues.

Not having a button to -set Beta updates to Off from Software Update
Is there a way to stop being offered a Safari beta ?
I already run the code to unenroll from Beta but I still have this nuisance, I guess because I installed the 15.7.6 (24G707)

Have the same issue here. Just to get rid of the update red badge, I installed this Safari Beta only to discover that it has the "Cannot Move File" error after trying to download a file.

That sounds like you need to run Disk Utility and hit the repair disk icon, from the Recovery boot up?
Or perhaps try another browser if Safari is that screwed up.
Try <https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/releases/tag/v1.89.132>
What hardware are you running? Apple Silicon or Intel? In any case, that download error is a separate issue from the Red Badge issue.
You definitely should be able to turn the Public or Developer beta option OFF in the Software Update pane.
Read through Bogdanw's excellent posts about the red badge in this thread. That should give you the terminal command you need. Post#107 above should do it, and earlier posts if not.

It is a known issue by now. Downgrading to Safari 26.3 from MrMacintosh repo instantly fixed the issue for me. I'm running a Mac Mini M4 Max.

Tried to PM you the first time you mentioned this, but your profile's restricted.
(by the way, you can have a totally empty [personal, data-wise] profile, with profile posts blocked, without having it restricted; that way, folks can occasionally be of assistance to you and without cluttering public threads with off topic info)

I believe you need a developer account for that to show; or at least, so it was for my region (EU):

You can sign up for it without the annual fee. All goes well, you'll get an Apple email confirming this.
Open up Settings after the email, go to Update, a mini-second later the optional Beta option will appear.

@katbel Try again the command, it appears to be working today

Code:
open "x-apple.systempreferences:com.apple.Software-Update-Settings.extension?action=showBetaUpdates"

@katbel I've installed 15.7.6 beta in a virtual machine and this profiles hides Safari beta and should hide future 15.7.6 betas. You will have to remove it to install the release version of 15.7.6 and Safari.

On a MacBook Air 7,2; the Sequoia Beta programm was installed about 12 days ago and there has been no notifications/badges come up. I haven't restarted it and generally don't let the battery charge percentage go above 35% (using Aldente app. which allows it to run on mains power - apart from leaving it to drop about 12% daily for battery longevity). On a similar vintage iMac with the same Beta the badge/nudge for 15.7.6 came up after a few days; so it looks like maintenance type checks for updates are suppressed if the energy level is below some figure; it was accidentally charged to 100% a couple of days ago but it was below 33% within hours - so seems to have not coincided with whatever the Apple checking for updates schedule is.

On the iMac the DrDonk Github Release is in use; it stops the device seeing any OS updates - so I'm using "Visualping" to hopefully get advice when the pixels change on the Apple site re the latest public release for Sequoia updates.

It might be easier for most people to use an app like SwitchHosts https://github.com/oldj/SwitchHosts/releases/latest and create a new hosts entry with 127.0.0.1 gdmf.apple.com
The app is signed and notarised.

Maybe; I'm not very versed in Tech protocols etc; but it seems astonishing that the "Switchhosts" page you provided the link for gives no idication that I could find as to what it's use is; I supposed that "Readme" or similar would have been mandatory for decades; apparently not.

As an OCLP user it would be most preferable to get a notification from them advising both of a publically released update and that the current OCLP app. works with it - but the developers are unreachable. Their Github pages have a "Make this page better" link which leads to a message basically stating we aren't going to read this - which might only be seen after a lengthy submission has been completed!

I've been waiting for the 'real' .6 update so I removed the profiles and ran the 'undo' terminal command.
Yet I can see Safari, Version: 26.5 Seed 1 even if I run softwareupdate -l in the terminal.
Is this normal? There's a feeling that I shouldn't update to it for some reason.

It looks like Apple will not release 15.7.6. Run the Terminal command below;
Download software update installers via the Terminal:
softwareupdate --list-full-installers <—to see what's available As of 4-22-2026;

and then your choice;
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 26.5 <—latest Tahoe Beta build 25F5058e
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 26.4.1 <—Tahoe build 25E253
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 15.7.7 <—Sequoia build 24G716 RC1
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 15.7.5 <—Sequoia build 24G624
softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 14.8.5 <—Sonoma build 23J423

That will download the full installer to your Applications folder.

Install the public beta option in the Software Update pane to get rid of the Tahoe red badge, or one of Bogdanw's solutions. Don't update to Tahoe unless you have a good backup to make a return to Sequoia easy. Many can't stand it, some think it is OK. As usual, YMMV.
