Popped up at 4am in Japan on the Software update pane, red circle on the icon in the dock. Time difference related?
An iOS update also appeared on my oldser iPhone 12 mini, update finished already, very quick this time.
Edit: Forgot to say, I am on the Developer's beta program. And as it is an RC, it probably won'T show up if you're not on the Public or Developer's program.

Isn't this the same as "Visualping" in effect; the problem is that the update page gets a few alterations which don't include Sequoia and I don't think there is any "line" that can be watched as a new update gets a new line?

If I understand correctly, you are saying that Visualping is an online service that doesn’t work for the “Apple security releases” page. So, the difference between Visualping and a script would be that a script runs locally on the Mac and, hopefully, works 🙂

Visualping works well but all it does it pick up any change to the page; so it should generate an e-mail when there is a Sequoia update but in the meantime I've had two mails about other updates. So what does the script you advised do exactly to just fetch Sequoia update advice?

PS I gather that getting onto the OS 27 beta programme works in that on an Intel device it won't send anything to it regarding updates.

I didn’t advise to use that script, I even quoted the warning. I just offered it as an example.

I asked OpenAI Codex to make a simple script that detects a new version of Sequoia on Apple’s page and run it daily.
I’m currently testing it and I’ll post it here if it works.

Hopefully, Apple will remember next week that it still provides security updates for Sequoia and release 15.7.8 with the fixes included in Tahoe 26.5.2.

I've been using about the fourth candidate of 15.7.8 in public beta. (Public beta stops the incessant Tahoe nagging, but I do get reminders to update to the latest Sequoia beta.) So, I obviously can't say that Apple is going to drop a final version of 15.7.8, but they haven't ignored it. So far.

macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 was released on 29 June 2026 with 37 CVEs.
Safari 26.5.2 for Sonoma and Sequoia, released at the same time, only has fixes for 31 CVEs.
So, since then, Apple left Sequoia users with at least 6 known vulnerabilities. In a time when some can be exploited within hours.

I meant that you advised of the script; will wait for the next update; maybe with Visualping it can be programmed to only report the addition of any new text with "Sequoia" mentioned - so I was wondering whether your (AI) script is meant to do that.

It's almost as if they're delaying it so that more people move to Tahoe for the security.

Nah, they wouldn't do that.
 
Jeez, the sixth RC dropped this afternoon. Either they are getting close to release or they released something terrible last week that needed an emergency fix.

This is what Visualping sent; it's from the Apple site but obviously makes no mention of the existence of earlier supported OS's (so requires a manual check after each e-mail) but apparently there is a way for it to just "look" for new and particular words e.g Sequoia. Since OCLP developers don't seem interested; it would be useful if a MacRumours thread could be created just to advise of new Sequoia updates and whether they work with OCLP.
