Ok so this weird thing happened to me: My Mac Mini 2012 power supply kinda exploded...

I needed the Mini on another station for the day so I unplugged it and (perhaps the mistake) took a random power cable.

Connected everything, power on. Switching to the keyboard... BOOM

The power cable actually flew right out the Mini with a spark. The fuses went haywire. The room went dark.

Ok so the good news:
- Nothing else was damaged
- RAM works in another machine
- SSD is fine too
- Nothing on the Board and not even the cable on the back of the ps look fried

Bad news:
- The power plug ... kinda... melted?

How could this happen?
What do you think? Has is it survived?

I already ordered a new ps.

Guessing game: DID THE MAC SURVIVE?

Is there any kind of proctection in the ps?

Thanks guys!

Yeah I got the ACMT and know how to / am allowed to fix it. I just never experienced something like this!

The power supply is gone, of course.
Probably took the motherboard with it.

MIght be time to start considering a replacement.
