@dAKirby: Understood, and sorry for any possible issue. We have few test computers and the ExtraMagic works 100% reliably across all of them. If it's not the Mac via Boot Camp, but PC, the situation may get affected by many factors. Sorry to sound like that, but if something is not working as intended, I cannot always help. This software is already the best what I and my team mates could do so far. if we can make it better, we immediately improve something. But to be able to improve, we first need to replicate the possible problem. All I can tell now, on our test PC everything works very reliably, based on my own continuous usage.

@V-l-a-d-i-m-i-r Hey, so I decided to take a break from using the Magic Trackpad for a while. I wiped my SSD and clean-installed Fall Creators Update on Windows 10 and was just getting comfy with it. Today I tried getting the Trackpad connected again and also decided to try and set up ExtraMagic. It worked (I hope it doesn't reset my settings again and stop communicating with it like it was...). However, the interesting thing is that a couple minutes after I got ExtraMagic to work, I realized that I didn't even have that approved USB Bluetooth dongle plugged in at all (nor did I plug it in since I've wiped the hard drive)! Somehow the trackpad is working fine on my built-in Intel Bluetooth technology. I'm not sure how it's working since, 1) it wasn't working before. And 2) You said that Intel bluetooth had problems (or something like that) with ExtraMagic working. So I'm confused but also happy about that.

I've included a screenshot of Device manager and Intel's bluetooth properties in case you found that interesting.

@V-l-a-d-i-m-i-r Is there a way to keep settings from resetting every time it's updated? It seems that each time I update it, I have to re-configure all my custom Trackpad settings/gestures, which I do not like. Is keeping your config a donation feature ?

If anything, is there a way to access/backup the config file in the file system?

@dAKirby: Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated! Probably your Intel Bluetooth was at first incompatible because of the Intel software (not because of hardware!) So, new drivers shipped with Fall update can be more compatible. Every Bluetooth on every PC may have its own good or bad surprises. While all Macs produced after 2009 are always compatible: Windows 10 via Boot Camp, Magic Trackpad 1 or 2, ExtraMagic software - such combo shall always work.
To the second question: as currently implemented in the ExtraMagic Settings app, its variables are set to default after reinstalling. So the settings will be kept as long as reinstall doesn't happen. But, you can play with "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ExtraMagic_64bit". By exporting this via regedit you should get a .reg file with a copy of the settings.

@V-l-a-d-i-m-i-r Thanks for the registry suggestion. Backing it up and merging it after an update seemed to work just fine! All settings restored :)

Also this time around the trackpad/gestures work great and the connection is nice and stable! So I'm happy. (only thing is, I wish I could pinch to zoom... but other than that, everything is good)

Hi I don't know if this is the right place to put this but I'm trying to install the extramagic software and I get all the to installing the extramagic driver and I get a system exception "The system cannot find the file specified" has anybody else had this issue or know how to fix it? below is the full error.

@All:

New version (1.4) is out today for both Magic Trackpad and Magic Trackpad 2.

What's new:
- Built-in ability to assign user-defined key combinations to any ExtraMagic gesture for 3 and 4 fingers;
- New 3/4-finger gesture option: 'Fullscreen toggle' (works great in all browsers and even in File Explorer);
- Minor bug fixes.

Screen shot of the new feature:

Hi Vladimir!

I have downloaded and started testing this new version. I am not using a Mac for this yet (I will be soon) but I have installed the drivers and whilst the gestures work, I cannot record a key combination using the new feature.

No matter what keys I type, even using the on screen keyboard, they do not register like they have in your screenshot.

Do you have any suggestions?

I am running as an administrator, I have tried turning of Hyper-V and UAC but to no avail...

I am not using the signed version of the app, but maybe that would be worth testing?

@GregAndo: Hi, thank you for reporting. As this feature works for us (tested on 2 PCs and 2 Boot Camped Macs), it's difficult to tell. The custom shortcut recording feature should work regardless of secure boot, signed driver, or special user privileges, etc.
This week I and other involved folks will look into it deeper, perhaps by doing another clean install of Windows 10 RS4. Because, to restate, currently this totally works for us! Very strange indeed.

@V-l-a-d-i-m-i-r Any chance you could implement the Tip Tap feature found in Better Touch Tool? I recently transitioned back to PC and figured I'd set up an extra Magic Trackpad 1 I had laying around. Extramagic works great but I'm really missing a gesture to open a new tab from a link. 4 finger touch is mapped to middle click but it doesn't seem to be working although every other gesture does. Tip tap would be awesome - I had it mapped to ctrl click for years and I'm really used to it.

@visusest: Thank you for suggesting. I'll try to add the 'Tip Tap' thing. Is 4-finger tap ExtraMagic gesture not working for anyone else? Asking as nobody ever reported such an issue...

I have contributed toward this project and are having trouble with the installation on a replacement windows computer. The installer for the bootcamp driver on the third party site does not run on the latest version of windows 10 - do you have an updated link that does work?

Yes, please check email, I sent the link to you...
[doublepost=1536761824][/doublepost]Ah, sorry, saw you mail reply, good to know everything works now.

@mellowjournalism: As a preparation step of its installation, the ExtraMagic helps to download standard Apple-provided trackpad-as-mouse driver from the Boot Camp package (mostly needed for people who use Magic Trackpad 2 with PC, because you already get the latest stock driver with a Mac in Boot Camp). ExtraMagic doesn't include the standard driver directly, because we think this would violate Apple's EULA for this driver...
Here is one of the third-party links for the latest trackpad-as-mouse Boot Camp driver: http://www.mediafire.com/file/mozxn...ackPadProInstaller64+(from+Boot+Camp+6.1).exe
This file is signed with a valid 'Apple Internal' certificate. Also checksum comparison proves it's the bit exact same package as shipped by Apple with the Boot Camp 6.1.7071.

I have installed the Apple Magic Trackpad 2 onto my windows 10 PC. It works fine using the ExtraMagic software and the Stock Apple drivers (Bootcamp is installed), but the trackpad has to be reinstalled after every reboot as the Extramagic app can't find it. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this issue and could suggest a fix. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation...
[doublepost=1550834455][/doublepost]I have installed the Apple Magic Trackpad 2 onto my windows 10 PC. It works really well with the ExtraMagic software and the Apple Stock drivers, (Bootcamp is installed too), but unfortunately it needs to be reinstalled after every reboot as the ExtraMagic utility cannot find the trackpad.
After a reboot if I look at the Windows setting for Bluetooth I can see the trackpad is connected, but it does not respond. I have to remove the device, re-add the device, and then re-run the ExtraMagic install. Everything then works fine until the next reboot. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and may have a fix. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation...

BTW, I just discovered that the Apple Trackpad 2 works with any Windows PC when connected with the USB cable, without any extra drivers.

@RSC2019: Thank you for feedback. Such behavior was never reported before. I believe it's something related to Bluetooth stack implementation on your PC. Clearer diagnose might be difficult, sorry...

@GeeJay: when no drivers are installed, and trackpad is plugged in, the pointer will move, but without scroll capability and without gestures... At least, it's been so until today...

[doublepost=1551450763][/doublepost]After a reboot, I have discovered that if you press down on the Magic Trackpad 2 until you feel a click, the trackpad then attaches and starts working. This request is therefor closed. Thanks to all for your help.

Hey,

I just tried installing ExtraMagic on by Windows 10 Computer. I intended to use it with a Magic Trackpad 2. It's connected via bluuetooth and cursor movement works fine.
But as I get close to the end of the installation I always get stuck at the "Please wait (...20-30seconds...)" part. I'm not receiving any driver installation prompt. Nothing. It's just "waiting".
I already disabled SecureBoot in the bios settings.

Is there any way to manually install the driver?

Thansk in advance.

Kind regrads :)

Yes, there is a way. It works now =)

I installed the drivers directly while the installer was waiting.
For me, they were located here:
C:\Program Files\Extramagic_64bit\wmt1\extramagic_x64.inf
(Windows was not happy about it :p)

A few seconds after installing them the installer prompted to restart.
After restarting the settings came up :)

Thank you for feedback! So the gestures for 3 and 4 fingers are working for you now?

Seems to work fine, yes. I don't know if it's just my particular windows settings, but, at least for me, the driver was not installed using the second step of the installer on my Surface Pro 4(Windows 10 Pro) either. I had to install the driver via the .inf file directly on both machines.

The only problem I get is when toggling bluetooth off/on the driver "won't respond" and I have to power cycle the system. Other than that, I really like it!
Is there any way to control the scroll speed for the trackpad? I have the scrolling speed set to lowest in windows settings but it's still kinda fast. Also, is there a pinch-to-zoom option available/planned? :)

So far ExtraMagic incorporates the gestures for 3 and 4 fingers (whereas all basic features for 1 and 2 fingers are supplied by Apple with their Boot Camp driver, with which ExtraMagic coexists). Pinch-to-zoom will be enabled later this year. All the standard (trackpad-as-mouse) features are currently handled with Apple-provided driver. And actually that is why trackpad will continue to work normally even if you remove the ExtraMagic.

Sounds good! But even if the apple driver is handling the trackpad stuff, shouldn't there also be a speed setting? I saw that there are a few bootcamp driver settings in extramagic. It's would be super awesome to be able to reduce the scrolling speed that way. As I've said, I have scrollspeed set to 1 in Windows which makes it hard to also use a mouse additionally and the trackpad is still fast :0

"Normal" trackpads for win10 can even have a separate speed setting when they're provided with a ultra precision driver in the windows settings. But yeah, apple won't do that :^)

Anyway, thanks for this program! I'll definitely contribute to the project it after testing it a few more days. :)
