My eyesight isn't 'that' bad, so I usually just wear regular sunglasses during the day, and glasses at night. I have transition lenses, but as others have mentioned, they don't really darken enough for bright sunlight, and they don't work either in my car or on the job - the two places I'd like to have them the most.

For the people who order online: how do you tell fit and how they will look on you? Do you try different frames in person, then order online? I've been wary of ordering online, because I want to see how they look and feel on me before ordering frames.

i ended up finding my frames in a Lenscrafters for $160. ended up getting them at bestbuyeyeglasses.com for $98 + lenses.

As for hi-index it is not worth the money if you script is not strong enough. What is your script because it it is less than -5.00 is not worth the money because the difference is marginal when it is weaker than that..

-8.5 in both eyes.

Well in your case High index is wort it.]

As for frames I have become a huge fan of oakley frames. Of the frames I have gotten over the years for me they seem to be the ones that fit the best and hold up to my abuse better than the other frames I have had.

It sounds like I am all for name brand but I just happen to like oakley frames and for glass unless you really are looking closely one can not tell my frames are oakley's because unlike their sunglasses lines the little oakley o is pretty hard to see and the ear part of it well those are hidden in my hair. I personally feel they are among some of the best frames for the money.

They are the best frames for the money for YOU. Keep in mind that just because a pair of frames look good on you, doesn't mean that they will look good on someone else. I tried on a whole slew of Oakley frames when I was looking, but none of them looked just right on my face. The guy standing next to me tried on a pair, and they worked for him.

We're considerably off topic, eh?
:D

Just to get back on topic....... I, um, wear a sombrero when I'm in the sun while wearing my glasses.

At one point or another I have done everything on the list!

I used clip-ons when I first got glasses (Freshman year of college). Hated them, so I went to Transitions when I got a new Rx. Back then Transitions was a lot slower then they are now. So by the time I walked from one class to another, they had darkened, but then I couldn't see when I walked into the next class. Also I worked in a greenhouse. They worked great in the plastic houses, but not so much in the glass houses, and were a general pain when you were moving things from the potting house to the greenhouses.

I currently wear contacts with sunglasses about 1/2 time. The other half is glasses with nothing or the magnetic clips that came with them. The problem with the magnetic clips is I keep bending them when I put them in a pocket or forget to bring them along when they are in the case. I have about 4 pairs of sunglasses so I always seem to find one laying around.

I usually wear contacts, but I used to do the ultra-cool thing and wear sunglasses over my prescription glasses. I hardly ever wear sunnies anyway.

Transitions for the win... I'm always getting compliments on mine plus its pretty nice to not have to fuss around w/ prescription sunglasses + the regular ones every time I go inside/out. I do want to switch to contacts next time I go for a check up.

I have transitions in my normal pair of glasses, and I have a pair of prescription sunglasses.

I use the Rx sunglasses when I'm driving, on the boat, or out at the lake house. But when I'm just walking around, I don't bother to take off my normal pair.

BTW, get the sunglasses polarized, it makes a world of difference.

Don

You should also add those giant over-glasses sunglasses.

But I kind of just got used to the sun, I don't squint much when I'm in the sun. I noticed that it didn't really make a difference for me whether i squinted or not.

I use transitional lenses. I also have a pair of clip-ons, which are even darker. I have light-colored eyes, which tend to be very sensitive to light. I'm the only one in my family who has light eyes, so it took a bit to realize that was the issue, until my doctor told me.

I'm half blind without my glasses, so no typical non-prescription sunglasses for me. I even have vision-corrective tinted goggles for swimming, so I have an excuse not to get my eyes wet (they're very sensitive).

EDIT: And as for the poll, unfortunately I can't check more than one.

The OP called someone a name and called me the C word in another thread. The OP is in time-out. I know nada about spaceboot.

I have worn glasses since I was about 4 and used to squint or wear clipons that scratched my lenses all to pieces. Now I have both prescription sunglasses exactly like my regular glasses (but I rarely wear them because they don't block the sun on the sides) and FitOvers that completely wrap around my glasses (I got them from my eye doctor).
