I don't think so, because those pictures could exist in more than one album. They only ever exist in one roll.

and mad jew, how do i edit the dates?

As far as I can tell, you can either edit the dates for an entire roll (select the roll and then edit the date in the Information pane) or for an individual photo (select the photo and edit in the same place as a roll).

well i edited some of the dates of the photos...yet it still starts the library when i scroll at dec 1999, yet the most recent pic is from 2002.....

also, some of the pictyres are out of order.....and the dates are right....i want them sequentially in the library, not pictures from last week at the top, and some from 2003 at the bottom....

any way to fix this? the dates are correct on these photos

actually i think i figured it out
you go to view, and then rolls

and you can edit it there.....i like this part of iphoto.....not the ruining my library part though

Has anyone found iLife '06 faster than iLife '05, on a G4? I'm particularly interested in iPhoto.

1) Quit iPhoto
2) Hold down command (the key with the Apple logo) and the alt key.
3) Still holding the above click on iPhoto
A window will appear offering you rebuild options.

So, I have a simple question about this...

If you do a rebuild, will iPhoto retain all your Keywords, Titles, folders/albums, etc, etc?
I'd hate to rebuild only to have to recategorize everything!

Oh, and is the answer different for iPhoto 4, 5 and/or 6?

Many Thanks!

iPhoto is quite a bit faster on my G4 iBook compared with the previous version. :)

Maybe have a look through this for an abundance of information. It tells you how to rebuild the library and it also says that a manual rebuild will not conserve metadata however it appears that a regular rebuild will (if all goes to plan).

It's pretty much the same for all three versions. :)

Thanks! I feel a bit better about trying it now. I'll review that Apple support link very closely too!

Thanks again!

I've also found iPhoto '06 to be faster on my G4 Powerbook. I'm not really pushing it, running 2000 images from an external FW800 drive, but it seems faster to me. The file organization is quicker, thumbnails and such. As for effects applications and adjustments, it seems about the same. It's always been pretty seamless for me.

regarding the deletion of files

had the same problem that deleting the files from the trash in iPhoto '06 either resulted in a complete appl crash or in the same pics being put back in their original place (so undeleted). I used the foolowing advise:

You might try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto, which resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Also, try deleting the two iPhoto Cache folders that are in the User/Library/Caches folder (taken from (http://www.macfixitforums.com/php/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum36&Number=743591&page=0&view=expanded&sb=5&o=31&fpart=))

After that it was resolved initially, however it returned soon after. I learned then that the problem seems to disappear altogether when you turn off the "show item counts" in preferences

well i finally got it working after many days of trials and tribulations

so i called apple to complain.......

they gave me a 100 dollar coupon towards a future purchase
