I have zero idea what my passwords are anymore after letting Safari make up a password for me and save it so I will be in trouble.
From your post it seemed as if you were concerned about privacy, and apps ‘seeing’ your facial expressions.
I wish we lived in a world where cybersecurity were that simple. it's not. FaceID is unlikely to be as secure as TouchID.So, AustinIllini’s comment doesn’t really make sense. It’s not like FaceID is less secure because of the data that apps have access to.
Touch ID can be foiled by Gummy Bears. Face ID could very well be more secure.I wish we lived in a world where cybersecurity were that simple. it's not. FaceID is unlikely to be as secure as TouchID.
According to all the dev docs out there, there isn’t a way to disable one and not the other so the bank will have to put touchID on hold for all of its other users while they ‘warm up’ to the security of FaceID.
This is silly design, especially with the white paper that prove the false authentication rate of FaceID is 1:1,000,000 while it is only 1:5,000 for touchID and touchID can be programmed to multiple fingers, and even different people as it is only a finger of someone, no way to determine if they are all the same user or not. FaceID can only be used for and by one entity, adding to its effectiveness.
So much for Apps that use TouchID just working with FaceId, my banking Apps need to update quick!
I'm having to input log in details every time, no other options. TSB and First Direct.
FaceID works with the Bank of America app.
Looks like there are banking apps that are excluding the X from biometric login but still allowing TouchID on other devices.
Seems those that thought that couldn’t be done were wrong, or just misunderstood Apple...

I would say that they are wrong, banks are just applying code which says:
If device is not “iPhone X”, then use biometric authentication.
Biometric authentication (the API) doesn’t differentiate between TouchID or FaceId
