The comments here make me lolz :D

Google & Facebook are so full of themselves. The best part of their apps are in my trash bin.

Typical comment. Insult enemy of Apple just because. Then attempt to make a clever statement.

Like Apple isn't full of BS when they promote their products and discuss how great iOS is.

God I hate that beady eyed Eric Schmidt and his Google sheep disciples.

Why because his name isn't Tim Cook and his "disciples" aren't the :apple: type? I feel the same way of all the sheep of Apple and Google. People have to associate themselves as part of the "family" and will attack the rival, be it the :apple: or little robot, at all costs.

Puhhh leeezzee.

Before I even open this thread I knew what kind of responses I would be seeing from Apple loyalists and Google haters. It's clear Apple has a loyal group of folks fighting for them on the Interwebz.

One reason going Apple/Google sites is annoying. Both have their hardcore loyalists who think they're in the Apple/Google Military or something. They refuse to see the bad in their 'parent brand.' Newsflash...Apple sucks in some ways and Google can suck to.

You mean, the end user that can have apps that are integrated with Siri? (Which is possible if you jailbreak...)...or the end user that can have notifications the way they want? Or a lock screen that displays relevant info? Or an app that can play audio from video in the background when not in use like youtube used to? Or a custom webbrowser?

Oh wait. Apple doesn't allow any of that for no apparent reason. My bad.

Apps can still play audio from video in the background if the dev allows it. The funny thing is that it's actually Google that chose to disable this feature in their Youtube app on iOS.

I never understood the meltdown about Apple maps...they have ALWAYS worked great for me. I live in Texas and go to some "in the middle of nowhere" places and they have done their job for me. Have they led me other places sometimes? Yes, but Google maps have done the same thing.

It gets a bad rep (well deserved) from the people outside the US. In the US, it works very well (most people I know prefer it to Google maps).

In the video, what is that on the left? A woman with a low voice or a male with a female's haircut?

I want nothing to do with Google and less to do with Facebook. They both want higher prominence in iOS because they know iOS is king and garners the largest mobile web share. Boo hoo, like they aren't making enough money as it is, now they want Apple to do them both a favor.

Apple, keep doing what you're doing - it's gotten you this far. Wall Street, Zuck and Schmidt can suck it.

Haha, this is where I love Apple. They will never bend over for Facebook or Google. Good for them. Who do Google and Facebook think they are? (Who does apple think they are?) they're all just companies, and they should shut the heck up when it comes to stuff like that.

Google & Facebook are so full of themselves. The best part of their apps are in my trash bin.

Doesn't Google just make Picasa (iPhoto knockoff), Android File Transfer (TERRIBLE PIECE OF CRAP), Sketchup (nice), and Google Earth (great) for Mac? And Facebook doesn't do anything.

I would certainly want the option to have deeper integration with iOS for third party applications. This isn't new and I agree with the execs.

Being able to have Google Maps as the default application and Facebook Messenger as the default IM client would be nice. Again, I'm saying having the choice.

Several people on these board want nothing to do with Google or Facebook, that's fine, but why restrict everyone else? Just don't download the application.

Apple isn't the best solution for all things. I personally would love to set Google Maps as my default mapping client, Mailbox as my default email client - should you disagree don't download the app. We're both happy.

Edit: Just to add, if I would also like to see Apple remove Twitter and Facebook integration with iOS. If Apple let third party applications provide selections (kinda like Android) they wouldn't have to bake social services directly into iOS.

Facebook, Twitter and MySpace are all garbage. MySpace is dead and I wish the same for the other 2.

Sure Facebook is bad, but the alternative social networks are much worse. I expected Google+ especially to be great, and they failed miserably.

There is only so much integration that can occur with Google. Their apps appear and are pulled at an increasing rate. It's better to leave things as installed apps. As for integration of Google maps, neither company is willing to come out and say what the reason for dropping Google maps was. It's probably better for both that they didn't.

Huh? Apple gave Google prime real estate since their original phone and what did Google do? Shafted Apple with substandard app and enhanced their app on Android with navigation.

So tell me Google, what did you do with Apple featuring your services prominently? A Stab in the back!

I'd like for my Facebook page to show up on every iOS home screen so I could get more likes. It HASN'T HAPPENED YET. Drat.

That guy interviewing for Facebook sounds like a 4 year old. His answer for everything is "ask Apple". Why not answer the question for once.

Deeper integration? What?

The App Store already has an App for Facebook. You can already use Google through Safari, AND you can even download Chrome.

What more could they want?

I never understood the meltdown about Apple maps...they have ALWAYS worked great for me.
But Apple Maps didn't work AT ALL for millions of other users. There's a reason why Google Maps for iPhone was downloaded by over 10 million people in 48 hours after the app was released.

Theft!

So, Schmidt steals iOS and makes Android. Lest we forget!
Suckerberg is a tech wannabe. One trick poney.
Ten years out, there will be no Facebook.
I have looked at it. Don't see the worth?
Lots of friends in my phone that I have never even seen (I like real people to rave with) ....

I don't usually post, but the whole Andnoid and Facesuck proliferation is
not for thinking adults. Interestingly, I read teenagers are adopting iOS
in favor of their fragmented devices. Maybe there's hope after all?

I have no problem with cheep people buying cheep devices. This will always be the situation amongst us humans.
However, in the long run, Apple will prevail. Exceptional hardware. User friendly operating system.
As far as cost, you get what you pay for. Seems many people are content to pay for what they get....lol...

Right, because we want some hipster who would gush and fawn of them instead because of something new and shiny regardless of how usable it is much like how some tech bloggers were all gaga over Metro.

was topowski a fan of Metro?
and no watch every interview walt and kara swisher has done with big names - steve jobs, ari emanuel, steve ballmer.
they are the definition of 'gushing and fawning' journalists
