Nowadays everyone wants to slam Apple App Store. It’s dumb!

How about coming up with your own platform?
Yea and some of these companies are so large people know the website to do the same things. Spotify has ways to sub outside. Even Android points there now. The weird thing though the article said you could pay by CC or Google Pay, but there was no GP choice like the SS showed

These guys are always good for a laugh. facebooks and Spotify should feel free to create their own hardware platform for their services, none of which I use. No one is standing in their way, no one.

I don't use Facebook, spotify or twitter but I think 30% is too high, make it 10% and you will still make money and might not need to change the rules. If not, congress will make it happen at some point.
Why? Why should Apple have to bend to that? It's their app store. If FB and Crapify want something different, then they should come out with their own platforms. No one's stopping them.

These kinds of complaints against specifically Apple are disingenuous too, because other platforms are quite similar, yet it's always "Apple Apple Apple"

The internet should be free! Apple is rapidly losing my respect. What’s happening to Apple anyways? Nowadays it’s all about wokeness and politics. Get back at making magic tech, like the good old golden times of Apple. Tim needs to go. Go spend your hard earned millions Tim and let a new generation of leaders pave the way for future civilizations.

I would say if there is any group of three people who could create something that can compete with Apple's and Google's ecosystems, it's those three.

People here are ****ing out of their mind… imagine being against the option to choose where you get your apps from… imagine using a PC and only being allowed to install apps from Windows Store…
I’m not sure if it’s really about that.

I think the majority of people are happy with the way things are now and are afraid of what the change would mean. What works on a PC doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll work on another platform.

Ontop of that Facebook/Spotify/Twitter CEOs aren’t fighting for users. They’re fighting for their profits.

I'm all for creating options outside of the App Store. To this day I'm still not sure why Apple treats the iPhone differently than a Mac. I can install almost anything I want without going through the Mac App Store, and make purchases within that software without Apple getting a cut.

Yes. Idk your reasons for saying it wouldn’t work but the fact that they‘re fighting for their profits doesn‘t mean people won‘t benefit from it sometimes.

I can get every piece of software I need for my Mac without using the Mac App Store. Why should my iPhone be any different?

Wait what, wasn't Facebook just caught getting financial data from tax preparers software? Totally legit. Where is the gazillion dollar class action lawsuit? Shouldn't the perps be doing jail time? Well now, lets deflect and umm, blame Apple

Facebook hurt the lives of so many people badly.

Facebook didn't care their platform was being used for hate speech and lies and misinformation for years.

Spotify cheats artists badly for years.

Spotify was so bad Taylor Swift slated them.

Apple Music and iTunes paid artists and labels more money.

These are facts.

Why are the enemies of real working people always trying to make Apple look like the bad guy?

Simple truth : because they are projecting and trying to rewrite their dirty history.

To those who keep responding "build your own platform" to every article like this, I have a question. If such a powerful monopoly were held by any other company, would you still defend it, or would you want to see that ecosystem regulated or broken up?

I don't expect many people would defend other monopolies through history, like Microsoft, AT&T or Standard Oil. But maybe those companies had their contingent of hardcore fans, too.

Nobody is losing choice here, it is only these companies who feel that they are losing money to Apple. I get that. I also am empathetic to Apple, who looked at the shortcomings of the old OS hardware, software ecosystem, which was riddled with viruses, keystroke loggers and wanting to make something safer and more private. Is there anything stopping Twitter, Spotify, and Facebook from simply directing iPhone users to their website through the web browser?

Apple is blameless in your version of history? Pay no attention to the suicide nets at the iPhone factories, right?

No, just the better guy.

Always pick the better of two evils.

Do you think mentioning factories, which is off topic, makes you win an argument about music stores? Bad try.

Blame Foxconn for factories, which is off topic. We know from 2 decades of articles especially 15 years ago that Apple sent them regular inspectors to improve conditions. It was a couple of dozen factory workers over many years.

Now compare that to:

Facebook screwed millions of people around the world and Spotify screwed thousands of artists.
