If Apple wants to do something to piss off Farcebook I’m all for it
Disney+ now making paid content available on its app (Mulan). They are running a store within a store.
How can a streamed video game contain malware? There is no processing on the phone. Why is remote play allowed if streamed games are an issue?
As much as I personally hate Facebook, they do have the option of removing their Messenger, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp apps from the iOS platform. That would surely hit Apple’s bottom line hard when customers starting switching to Android in droves.
Mulan’s probably just gonna be an IAP in the Disney+ that uses Apple‘s billing system. So not necessarily and store within a store.
lol, you don’t have to download it and Apple shouldn’t be the one to “protect you”.I wouldn’t let Facebook‘s festering pile of crap anywhere near IOS they can not be trusted. Good on Apple for protecting it’s users.
So you have been boycotting Apple for years but your wife bought you products which you accepted and presumably used. Do you and your wife ever speak? If she was aware of your boycot position yet still bought you products why did you not have her return them? Your boycot certainly is fake and your marital communication seems to need work as well. I support an Apple boycot but you are letting down the side.I don’t think this will make a difference - there’s been plenty of developers who have protested over the past decade and nothing has ever changed because of it.
Either some branch of government needs to force Apple to change what they’re doing, or somebody needs to organize an effective boycott against Apple.
I haven’t bought a new Apple product since 2014, protesting their App Store monopoly, crap software, and absurd pricing, but my wife gifted me both an Apple Watch and AirPods during that time, plus bought herself an iPhone 8+ and an Apple TV for our house. If I weren’t boycotting Apple we’d probably have more/newer iPhones, iPads, and Macs, but my protest feels fake when I can’t stop my wife from gifting their products to me.
IIRC they already have some kind of partnership with Microsoft for xCloud, so such a commercial is very likely to happen.I can see the Samsung commercials already where Android users play Xbox and Facebook games.

And those are great gadgets to boot.I don’t think this will make a difference - there’s been plenty of developers who have protested over the past decade and nothing has ever changed because of it.

Do they, though? It's essentially a store within a store, and it's not exactly breaking news that Apple doesn't want that. We can quibble over whether that's good policy, but app review is entirely pointless once an app can contain arbitrary further apps of its own.
The only "fair" solution to this I can see is to allow alternate app stores. Which… maybe? macOS does it.
Didn’t Apple approve steam though... you just can’t buy new games through the iOS device.

My understanding is Facebook Games has locally-playing games, whereas Steam Link streams remotely-running ones.
Ah so that’s why Instagram, Messenger and Facebook are all in the top 10 chart of free apps on iOS.I wouldn’t let Facebook‘s festering pile of crap anywhere near IOS they can not be trusted. Good on Apple for protecting it’s users.
