That's not exactly boycotting is it... more like resisting. You could've explained your position and asked that the gifts be exchanged/changed or even given away to someone else who isn't disgruntled with the brand.
Would have to be straight return or never buying. Giving them away still gives Apple $$$

All browsers on iOS run safari's engine underneath.
They are all essentially skins on top of safari.
This is why I have no hope for a browser based version these cloud streaming game services. Apple could kill it there if it wanted too as well.

I don't agree with Apple on their restrictions, but I will give them a pass on keeping anything related to FaceBook away from users.
I wouldn’t let Facebook‘s festering pile of crap anywhere near IOS they can not be trusted. Good on Apple for protecting it’s users.

I know this might come off as a bit radical, but how about letting users decide what to install on devices they purchased and own?

Why is remote play allowed if xcloud isn't?
Steam's RemotePlay and Sony's PlayLink are just video casting with mote controls. Facebook Gaming (not sure about xCloud) needs to execute code locally provided by Facebook servers.

What if they call them interactive movies instead of games?

You could argue Netflix Bandersnatch was a “game” since you don’t just view it, but interact with it.

I still don't understand how Steam Link is okay, except that it's local. You still can't control what's being sent, and you could have all sorts of games on your game machine.

Facebook should go away anyway, but their protest just highlights what kind of company they are, and that is left for another thread.

This type of app was never allowed in the first place, so why design it and bitch. Plus they still have all of the Android market. No company is required to sell products they do not want to sell. While this looks like a harmless way to work around the App Store if they let it go others will want the same treatment and their products might be in the same class, but nefarious. Consistent rules on these two apps is fair if only to avoid more questionable ones in the future.

How can a streamed video game contain malware? There is no processing on the phone. Why is remote play allowed if streamed games are an issue?
Since FB is not disclosing why they were blocked I am certain they are try remote code execution. Even a bit of code that handles controls should not be streamed. Remember this is the same sh*thole company that used the background music services to track users regardless of the user's acceptance.

SteamLink is crippled on iOS. You can’t play games. Sony’s Remote Play literally allows you to access the Sony PlayStation store, buy any game you want, and play it. All without any influence from Apple.

So it makes absolutely no sense why Remote Play is allowed and SteamLink, Stadia, and xCloud are not.

Couldn’t care less about Facebook. Why are Stadia, SteamLink, and xCloud not allowed?

Did that work on the iOS I thought it was PC only

Check your configuration. My family and I use SteamLink and PlayLink every weekend to play games.
Only factor for Apple to reject it is Remote Code Execution since Facebook and Microsoft are just bitching and not disclosing the reason they were given (It's part of the violation report).

Apple is just scared of other services that are better than theirs and instead of improving them at breakneck pace they rather restrict them or hamper them with App Store policies.

Microsoft, Google, Android, Spotify, BMW, etc all work together to integrate the most popular services better instead of trying to hamper them.

I wish Google, Microsoft and Facebook had the balls to delist all their apps from the App Store a week before a new iPhone comes out. I bet Apple would look into it very quickly.

I know this is hypocritical, but well I'm for xcloud gaming coming to iOS I am all for restricting anything related to Facebook. I am ok with this position.

Because those are not general-purpose computing platforms.
No there are not. They are specialized computing platforms, they were never sold to you as "opened". You just want to re-define it to be able to play some games from MS and FB.

Apple shouldn’t be the one to “protect you”.
You picked the wrong platform then. Just cause MS started the clusterf*ck by not protecting users with Windows that doesn't mean no platform should protect their users.
