Is there a way to shut off the instant notifications of people who post things? Sick of thinking I have a text every time someone adds to a post.

Go through your user settings under "User CP" in the top left corner of macrumors (under the Front Page tab). Theres a bunch of notification settings there.

User CP --> Edit Options --> Default Thread Subscription Mode --> Change to whatever you prefer.

OK, my bad. I meant for facebook, not macrumors. Every since the update this morning, when someone posts a comment to something on facebook that I already posted to, I get a text message like notification on my iphone about it. Its annoying and I checked my facebook settings and have notifications shut off. I don't why this started happening and more importantly, how to stop it.

UGH I'm ready to throw my phone out the window!:mad:

I updated the Facebook app on my iPhone 4, and it sat there "loading" forever, so I went back to the home screen, deleted it, and reinstalled it from the app store. But then as it was in the "installing" phase, the phone stalled, and became unresponsive. So after ~5 minutes, I forced restart (hold down both power and home buttons for a few seconds). NOW I'm getting the freaking "Wire ==> Itunes" picture! WTF!! Its been so long since I backed up to my laptop, I really don't want to restore if I don't have to. Is this happening to anyone else?? I saw others were having issues on the iPhone 4... What gives?

Any suggestions or solutions?

Same. Full restore is the only way I could get it to work again!!

Lost a lot of photos and heaps of app information I needed

Constant Load Bug

Hey,
Is anyone experiencing an issue in which when you get a notification and you go to check it the app continues to try loading forever. Like the spinning gear at the top showing internet activity continues to load and load and load, however the page never does update.

I end up having to close the app, go to the multitask bar, kill Facebook and reopen.

Quite annoying... I like the UI changes etc. though.

However, pictures on the app are horrible quality now, it's like they are only loading the half regular quality photos no matter if I am using 3G or WiFi.

Has anyone played any of the flash based games and got them to work? Did they work well or did it seem like it was somehow being emulated
I don't think flash games work, only games installed on the iPhone
New Facebook app is NOT iOS 5 compatible.

Dock your keyboard to the bottom and it will appear.

The new app is iOS5 compatible. I use it without a hitch in iOS5. Maybe you are using a beta? Try the GM?

Yes in account settings on facebook.com

Which is set properly and always blocked these notifications. However, now with the update, they started again. I keep googling and seem to be the only one in the world with this problem. Just checked and my settings are set properly. Anyone know what I could be doing wrong?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

Is there really not an easier way to get to the Messages > Online window (to chat with online friends)?? I can't believe there's not a button at top to see who's online. This is my main use for this FB app. So now I have to go to that sidebar menu, click Messages, then click Online at the bottom. Too many steps just to see list of online friends. There's plenty of room at top blue bar for a fourth button. What were they thinking??

where are my favorites!?

I actually liked having 6 or 7 of my closest friends that updated facebook a lot a click away. It'd be nice if they brought that back...

For most, and in many ways, this app is a big improvement, For me, this app is a step backward because I always loaded up facebook, went to my favorites and then individually viewed a handful of my best friends' profiles.

Oh well, I guess searching for them every time isn't the end of the world... just a slight hassle.

I see that 4.0.2 is now available. It claims to fix "some issues that were causing the app to hang or crash for some users when upgrading from an older version". I've been avoiding this update on my iP4 because of all the reported problems. Am I safe now? Has anyone tried upgrading to this new version directly from the old one (pre-4.0)?

Settings-Facebook-Push Notifications-Turn of what you want

I love the new version (4.0.2). Scrolling in profiles is not working and load times are looooong, but otherwise, great update in my opinion. I love the new sidebar- makes it great people like me who have a lot of groups that I read and post in everyday.

I successfully upgraded to 4.0.2 from the old version (pre-4.0) on my iP4, but only after upgrading to iOS5. No problems whatsoever. Phew! Really like the new UI.

Can anyone verify that Vimeo links no longer work when clicked on from the iPad app? It works fine in safari or if you use m.facebook, but the iOS app seems to misfire somehow. It just appears that the clip is loading, but then remains that way forever.

So far I haven't been able to tell if others are having the same issue.
Seems to be with all Vimeo clips I found. YouTube is working fine.

Don't know if the issue's been raised, but do you guys always log in automatically? I'm using the app (updated to the latest version) on my iPad 2 4.3.3 and it almost always asks for my password (not login per say, oddly enough).

Is it due to the fact that I sometimes use the web-based version and also MyPad+, which would strangely get me to logout from the proper app and therefore create the need to re-enter the password?

It's quite a problem for me, as I'd like to fully use it w/o having to login each time, as MyPad+ doesn't have all the features the official app offers. Thanks for any input you may have.
