I just saw an ad for a new gold version of the Samsung Galaxy 6. They are even copying colors now. Embarassing!

So if you ever make a gold phone, or a phone made of glass and or aluminum, you're a copycat. If you make a plastic phone, you're a cheap company that can't make crap (figure of speech because if you're a cheap company you probably can and do make crap). I'm confused as to how any company but Apple is supposed to make anything and not get completely slammed for it

Besides the current case covering both hardware and software patents, the latter are just plain stupid. Software wouldn't be where it is today if we had these protective laws in the 70s and 80s. Berners-Lee consciously decided not to patent the web and not to claim any license fees for his invention and so did generations of scientists and engineers before him for the sake of progress.

The Galaxy S6 Active is the only thing original from Samsung these days, and I do commend them on it. If I were a blue collar worker, I'd consider it.
But you are instead a?
Wow, there are really people like this?
In ProwlingTiger's defence, I believe he/she is saying that the S6 Active's 'ruggedisation' makes it an attractive proposition for users who aren't confined to office environments. There's no slight intended by 'blue collar'.

Samsung had an "iPhone" looking phone out before the iPhone.
If I remember correctly, there were images of a Samsung being shown on a trade show on the internet, with dates blatantly changed by a year to "prove" this. In reality the phone that you are talking about appeared long after the first iPhone.

And there would be the obvious question: If they indeed had a "iPhone" looking phone out before the iPhone, why didn't they tell the court? With the obvious answer: Because they didn't.

Wow, there are really people like this?

That phone is ruggedised, dust proof, water proof, shock proof. It's designed for people who have a blue collar job or go adventuring, rock climbing and so on. Someone who just sits in an office doesn't need a phone with such protection.

I love Apple products. But they deserve this. Time to get of the high horse and go innovate a bit more.
Cause this is ridiculous. You don't see car companies and others yelling this way.
And btw all the phones look different, of course they are going to have similarities.
I fully understand that the other companies are worried of the long effects this could have.
Good move on their part. Sometimes the weakest link must be realized and let go.

Okay but what I'm referring to is the Galaxy S6 which was criticized for not only resembling the iPhone 6 on the bottom, which isn't really an unfair criticism, but was also criticized for being made out of the materials it was made of. As if a primarily glass back was something only Apple could ever do, along with aluminum edges. Also, when the HTC One M7 came out, HTC was heavily criticized for being an "Apple copycat" with an all aluminum phone! Im talking about phone materials here, not exactly sure what you're trying to conjur up. But go ahead and keep coming to the defense of a company who literally just sees you as another number

But you just defended Samsung and HTC... do they not see you as just another number?

I placed this note in the eBay feedback page:

Just to let you know that I am seriously considering canceling my account with you since you filed a briefing with the court against Apple. Your actions are very wrong headed in the business environment. Your corporation is base out of the US and you're siding with a foreign company that is doing serious harm to a company based in the US. I wonder if I should report you to the NSA, FBI, CIA, and others. Do you have products for sale that harm US citizens from terrorist organizations? I may send an inquiry to the California State Attorney General for your actions.

PLEASE tell me you are joking with that BS.

APPLE A COMPANY THAT KEEPS LOTS OF FOREIGN PROFITS, (some of which they undoubtedly came about by shady means)????
Makes products overseas instead of in the US. Jesus, get over yourself.

Lamest thing I've read all week. Didn't know this was a cringe thread.

another Samsung v apple story and so many of the exact same posts. Seems we never do tire of it in MR. This should be a nice click magnet resulting is the same debates.

This is a joke right....

In case it's not what's you plan to report them to NSA, FBI, CIA....Google thier numbers? Geez I'd love to hear that conversation....

I don't know why people waste there energy getting heated over stuff like this in the comments. Being a "loyal Apple fan" (fanboy) gets you literally nowhere. It's not like you're going to be seeing any of that 500 million Apple is about to get. Instead they're going to go ahead and make another underwhelming, last year look alike phone with probably 3 new features (iPhone 6s) and charge you even more for it. Apple is not listening to you. Apple does not care. You are literally just another dollar in their pocket, another statistic on some graph, and another fanboy wasting their life getting mad over things that will literally not affect you at all. :)
It affects the company and their success so it can limit the flow of innovative products until they are sure they will be able to recoup their investments. Microsoft's similarly blatant theft of Mac OS caused a 10 year drought of my innovation from Apple. They started just following the market because huge investments in tech that could not be protected by copyrights as revealed in the MS battle. They could not justify the risk when competitor would just appropriate their work and compete with them using tech they spent Billions creating.

People here tend to react very emotionally regarding this case and Apple in general. While they are right for the most part and this "friend of the court" is indeed a ridiculous POS, - let's still not forget, that at such level it is all about business, publicity and marketing moves, not very much about pure emotions towards or against Apple.

Google just realized, that they surprisingly earned some more money in the last quarter. So, why not go and support their lovely friends and take a bunch of other losers along?

Oh look, a bunch of criminals whose products all borrowed from apple one way or the other are banding together to portray apple as the evil one.

Let's see these companies' contributions:

Google: favours samsung because without sammy, android is nothing.
Dell: A dying pc company trying to get as much exposure as possible
HP: A company known for making Mac knockoffs
Ebay: A company that specializes in selling cheap chinese knockoffs
Newegg: A company that sells overpriced PC parts that caters to basement-dwelling windows fanboys.
Facebook: Still sour over their epic failure Facebook phone

clearly you do not understand what the word criminals means.

You do realise that apple also "borrows" from others? It's an industry where people copy each other, you would have to be extremely naive to ignore the features android and iOS have copied from each other.

Point here is, Samsung were blatant.

You seriously wrote that? Geez, they're just tech companies. Get over yourselves.

Pretty much the exact same thing I said

Windows and Mac OS were based on Zerox parc.
