How on earth could you possibly know that?

Because the only person who defended Forstall 100% was Steve Jobs. Both loved Skeuomorph to who knows who. When Jobs died, Scott lost only person who defended him, and hence he was fired.

Am I missing something..?

The chatheads are kind of cool... a step in the right direction.... but other than that, I don't see what makes facebook home so special that I'm reading about it every day...

Even if Apple is "in talks" with Facebook, this would never happen for at least a year.
Apple is the kind of company to sit back and see how well something does before giving it a try (USB3, LTE, ect), or never using it (BluRay, RFID)

And seeing how 'well' Facebook home is doing, i'd give it another 2 months before it becomes junk.

Yes, people like to be connected. But I think people are coming to the conclusion that there is a fine line between constantly connected, and straight up addicted. And Facebook Home is the first step to admitting you have a problem.

I think so many are opposed because we should be thinking of ways to minimize our use of Facebook. Not shove it further in our faces.

This notion that our mundane thoughts and actions matter -- the celebrity effect, as I call it -- is getting out of control. I glance through my newsfeed and find nothing informative or interesting. Now, all I see is arbitrary comments about what someone had for lunch and an endless sea of memes, commenting on something political, religious or whatever, and somehow finds a way to judge you for not liking it 'in 5 seconds' if you believe in God. Yes, because God cares about Faebook.

The only useful information on FB comes from, on occasion, the musical artists I like. However, their news and news in general I find elsewhere, before I learn about it on FB.

It's been pretty fantastic lately minimizing my use of that app/website.

You do realize the newsfeed on YOUR Facebook page is chosen by you. The people that YOU have given permission to post on YOUR newsfeed.

Maybe you should be looking a little closer to the Friends YOU CHOOSE to Like and let post on YOUR Newsfeed if you don't like it/them then unfriend them.

You're bitching about something you chose to participate in and chose who can post to your Facebook page. Seems you're more the problem than Facebook itself.

Just a thought...

Steve Jobs might have agree ousting Forstall. He might know it all along that Forstall has attitude problems ( a cancer to the company ) but his really indebted to him because Forstall is with Steve Jobs since NeXT (Steve's company before acquired by Apple). He might discuss it with Tim Cook before he died.

I also heard that Apple is going to bundle a free 30 day trial of McAfee Anti-virus on the next gen iPhone as well. /s

I don't think Apple is going to forget why people buy iPhones.

Agreed. Not everyone is a 17 year old checking Facebook every minute to see if her duck lips bathroom mirror picture was liked. Not sure I want my entire phone experience over Facebook.

1. I seriously doubt it will happen. Apple is very closed and controls the UI tightly unlike Android.

2. No one will force you to install/use it if it were made available. It would be an option.

Related but unrelated

Several people have commented that Apple won't give up it's springboard.

Years ago, the Nike+ App allowed you to see what you were listening to, how far you went, pace, etc, all from the lock screen. It was great, and you could also use your finger to swipe to the next song.

You haven't been able to do that in a while, nor will RunKeeper do that.

Is this related at all? Why can't developers do that anymore? Now you have to slide, unlock, wait for the app...it's a real pain.

I'd love to know why.

Never have, and never will use Face****, and I hope Apple products will stay clear of this.

Nooooo. Facebook sucks... The Facebook app sucks even more. This idea sucks even more more more....

No. Their new "suggestion feeds" are shoved down your throat whether or not you liked them or fanned the pages. They actually gather information about all your posts and friend posts and target you for specific ad-based posts/suggestions as they call it.

Which is not what he is bitching about.

I'm not the problem. Maybe I don't babysit my friends list and police it but i highly doubt such useless info is unique to me. plus, these posts by friends, etc evolve over time.

But being disrespectful to me as another human being is hardly solving the problem. So maybe you're the problem. Your nastiness is completely unnecessary.

FFFF NO!!! GET OUT OF MY LIFE. I will avoid all smartphones if this is the direction they take. I don't even use my phone for anything remotely smart anyway lol

Whilst I'm sure many won't want it.

What's wrong with giving iPhone users "The Choice" ?

They do, they can go buy an Android phone.

And for those kinds of people who just have to know what every one is doing 24/7 and just have to know what the Kardashians are up to, they are far better off with a Barbie phone
