I understand the multi-upload feature, but why not just continue taking pictures with instagram and select the option to upload right to facebook with the "better" filters?

Part of the problem is speed. The generic Facebook app is huge and clunky -- and the complaints reflect this. For users who JUST want to chat, or JUST want to interact with photos, these dedicated apps are perfect.

If you don't want the dedicated apps, just use the main one. You'll lose a little functionality, but it works.

But it's not like the speed issue in the original FB app is resolved by making these separate apps. They've released 3 additional apps and yet the original Facebook app hasn't gotten any better; it's actually gotten worse in some cases.

It never fails to amaze me that apparently nobody understands that Facebook's users are the actual product that Zuckerberg's company sells to its real customers...

More than 900 million wonderfully detailed and freely given profiles that can be sold to advertisers. No wonder Mark has become so rich so quickly.

The next time somebody complains that the government is spying on you, try deleting your Facebook profile first.

I understand it but I'm willing to accept that I will be targeted for a banner ad in exchange for keeping in easy contact with dozens of friends and family.

Same goes for my Google account.

And I'm not complaining about government spying on me. Martians, on the other hand, have cameras everywhere.

Come on! The facebook app is complete garbage! Why can't they just work out the bugs and make it useable? I don't want to download another app for FB. Why is twitter so much better on the iPhone?

I think this is nice but I dont want to have a whole folder dedicated to just facebook and their apps. It should be more simple and one easy to use application.

I think that's Facebook's point. They're going to be a mobile platform - the same way Google has multiple "products" - maps, Picasa, documents, etc;. I personally won't use it, but I can see them going there.

True but Google doesn't really have one central product like Facebook does (even if they all have tie-ins to each other).

All of these Facebook apps are ultimately just dedicated apps for different content on Facebook.com.

"They" want you to believe advertising is the reason they hold so much information. Yeah ad banners, please get real and get a damn twitter account.

I won't be surprised if this app has a bit more of an advertising component to it at some point in the future, since the Facebook viability on the mobile platform for advertising is less effective than the traditional desktop/laptop... which has done a number on stock holders.
