It would be hilarious if it backfires and instead of getting it thrown out, governments like the idea and force it to be implemented on any operation system.

also it’s not like Apple IS blocking it completely, they are just giving users a choice.

i do agree about the default messaging app part though.

I welcome this effort !

At a MIN, it will very-likely force Apple to Open Up the Books !

For one, as an App Dev, I believe Apple should be required (by Law) to report the "per-Category App Store Revenue Numbers" to the General Public at the end of each week !

Just need the numbers for AAPL's Top Five App Stores around the world.

Hopefully, this gets us at least part of the way there (without a new Law).

Very specifically, App Devs & AAPL Shareholders should have access to alot more Info than what Tim Cook's AAPL provides !

Excuse me while I laugh!

I really think anybody presented with the facts re: App Tracking Transparency would have to do some real mental gymnastics to come out thinking Apple is in the wrong here. Being honest and respectful of users privacy isn't anti-competitive, and if Facebook's bottom line is harmed by Apple being this way then maybe Facebook should look inwards instead of bringing a lawsuit.

Can't wait to see Zuckerberg stating : "Your Honor, we can no longer milk people's personal data, make money without them knowing and not sharing back profits made, so unfair."

100% with Apple on the privacy tracking thingy.

So, Facebooks earnings come out and they PUBLICLY state "Apple is going to be our biggest competitor." Then they file suit and cry foul?! Mask off. They may need to issue a flood warning for all of the slime oozing out of Wall Street.

I don't really see how this doesn't get laughed out of court. Correct me if I am wrong but Apple is just telling the user what is going on and the user decides how to proceed. As long as Apple is not revealing privileged information then I don't see the problem. Facebook's issue seems to be with its own users.

Ahh yes, nothing is more ironic than an antitrust lawsuit within the oligarchy itself. If they're foolish enough to go forward with this, I certainly hope all of their dirty laundry sees the light of day.

My greatest hope is that Zuckerberg's ego leads to the slow and painful destruction of the Facebook empire. Out of all "big tech" they contribute the least to society and are the most callous when it comes to consumers. I would love to see how they can argue that giving consumers a choice on how their information is used is "anticompetitive", other than "waaahhh we need that to make our obscene profits".

So, excuse me while I go pop up a fresh batch of popcorn to watch this train wreck unfold...

Zuckerberg is throwing a tantrum. I can't wait to see the publicity FB gets for opposing peoples' ability to decide if they want their information shared. And as for lock-in, it's the only think keeping me using FB. If there were any real competition I would use it. As it is, I find I use FB less and less every day. It's become obnoxious, just like its founder.

Not sure why I'd need to change my default messaging app on iOS - especially now that the share menu supports conversations from third party apps.
This would be like demanding that Facebook offer end users the ability to talk to other Messenger users from other apps. Why should I have to download the Messenger app to communicate with friends when I already have other messaging apps?

I really don’t think that Facebook realized that the population is against them on this one. Talk about living in an ivory tower. I don’t really care how this effects their bottom line - if they can’t make money without harvesting my data to sell, then they should go out of business.
I think Facebook is fully aware but they have no choice. This is an existential threat to Facebook, and all other privacy monetizers like them. It's fun watching Facebook engage in an existential fight they're certain to lose.
