The iPhones software is like 3 years old, and it's still successful, so you ne ver know.

But besides really deep facebook integration, what value will this phone really bring to the table. I just don't see people shelling out extra cash just to use Facebook on a phone

It's supposedly still an Android phone, just made with some heavy Facebook modifications. It will likely feature some unique Facebook to Facebook calling, texting etc for free.
The only game I see here is if the phone seamlessly integrates with the VOIP/Messenger thing they rolled out recently. Free calls?
Failsauce, I would assume. I for one think this phone looks quite nice. Would I buy it? No. I don't need any more Facebook integration that what iOS currently offers, and common sense tells me most people are in the same boat. This looks to me to be a bit like that old ESPN phone that Steve dissed all those years ago. I'm sure it'll get sales from seriously hardcore Facebook users, but the vast majority of us have a life.

AND... ...I see you got a lot of ups on this plus relatively few people from the "Apple form factor is perfect" chorus taking you to task. 18 months ago you would've been lashed and lambasted.
(Some joker implied the solution was an iPhone and an iPad mini - which makes zero sense. If anything, if forced today I'd get a Galaxy S4 and an iPad, which, btw, would give me two complete ecosystems to choose apps and functions from - just as I prefer having Windows living in VM Ware on a Mac - and can tie everything together well-enough with SugarSync and DropBox, both of which feel more mature to me than iCloud.)
So even Apple fans are less into the Ives ergonomics Kool-Aid line on this. Are you listening, Cupertino??
I really DON'T want to buy a Samsung this fall, but if your form factor doesn't give me the screen I want, I will. And if they can do 441ppi at 4.99", by now you should be able to keep your 326 at say, 4.7".
And, yes, I know it's "pentile," and no, I don't much care - after all, 98% of people have adapted to mp3 sound quality as normal, and that was from "CD-Quality sound" which in turn was less high fidelity than Vinyl records.

Nothing, just...boring and full of people attention seeking with cryptic status updates like "I dont know why I bother" and silly things like that, or really pointless updates like "got the day off work, yay!". The other half of the posts are app notifications about some random person playing some silly flash game.
Sorry, guess I dont like sharing every mundane detail of my life.

Yeah you're right, even still I dont see it being a success in any shape or form. Why by a phone 'locked' to facebook when you can just grab the app or visit the site.

Only if those people are your friends, and you don't use the features given to you. Facebook is still a great platform. Through a combination of having interesting and intelligent friends and blocking the crap that annoys me, I have no issues with Facebook. Also, you're not required to share anything, you can be as private as you want. I rarely post anything to the public, but messaging and groups are an indispensable part of my life now.
Facebook is a great tool, you just have to use it right.
What benefit does a higher resolution screen even have if you can't even see the pixels on the current iPhone screen? None.

as retribution for Apple turning its back on the pro community, I will relish watching them slide down the charts as they get out-smarted & out-designed.
What a stupid post. They never turned their back on the pro community. A REAL pro would know that they have a set of redesigned Mac Pros coming out this year, and even the refreshes last year worked fine. Are you complaining that they didn't deliver things according to YOUR timetable, or are you just whining because you couldn't figure out the FCP redesign?
