Wish there was a way to get away from getting any ads, although that would probably cost something. I also doubt they aren't getting any information from you somehow.

Not just after, but also before. They track everyone they can with their stupid like-buttons added to webpages, and "statistics" and login-solutions getting put into apps and websites.

If their stuff reaches your device, no matter how, they track you.
Facebook knows all about you even if you aren't registered, it can make deductions about unregistered people based upon posts that people you may know who've posted on their timeline.

Such a pathetic platform for users. The damage done will never be reversed. Anyone using Facebook really needs to look in a mirror and just admit their mistake, and delete it from all their devices. Zuck=Schmuck.

LOL, keep trying Zuck, your days are numbered by the amount of information the masses are given! Very few people will click "allow tracking" when FINALLY given the choice.

Do you’re know if there’s a Mac equivalent to Pi-hole? Only found out about it today and from what I understand it’s for Linux systems only.

You're not really supposed to run pihole on a primary computing platform. It's called PiHole because it was designed to run on a small Raspberry Pi that sits between your home network and your router, cleaning traffic as it passes through.

are they even allowed to display anything BEFORE the prompt?

also this screen in the privacy settings of iOS still confuses me. What happens if I leave it set to off? Does that mean any app is "opted out" by default and it does not even bother to show me the opt in prompt or will it automatically allow it for all apps?

Facebook's business model will suffer from these changes.
And when a business model is fundamentally, ethically wrong, it needs to suffer.

To the billions they use Facebook, at this point, you deserve to be data mined to death.
I don't think they deserve to be punished, only Facebook. People who use Facebook aren't the ones being evil and data-mining everyone else, after all (well, besides Facebook CEOs who use their own platform)

Essentially, you have to decline twice: once to Facebook and once to Apple. This is confusing. Apple should prevent Facebook from showing their propaganda. It's Apple's platform, so developers should ONLY show Apple's request.

I would have less of a problem with this if, before showing Apple's request, Facebook put up a screen with text such as "We are about to display Apple's mandatory privacy request. We think you should decline because..." but lacking any buttons to agree or disagree. The only buttons should be in Apple's request.

I wonder what happens if you press "don't allow" on the Facebook screen. I wouldn't be surprised if they implemented yet another screen like "ARE YOU REALLY SURE?"

Too little too late. Building an antitrust case against Apple was a bad move, not just ethically, but from a public perspective. Facebook's image is even more tarnished now--they need to try earning our trust and stay inside their wheelhouse. This move doesn't at all instill trust--especially after seeing how they use our data (current and past).

What’s with all these companies claiming the BS they pull is for the small businesses when it’s clearly to help their own big business profits?

I believe FB's Next Step AFTER this one will be offering Users two options:

1.) Agree to App Tracking, OR

2.) Pay us (i.e., FB or whoever) $4.99 USD or so per year to use the app.

Otherwise, I believe ALL of FB's apps, as well as most Popular Apps, will transition to become Trial Versions & that's ALL.

Once your 7 days OR so is up, it then becomes effectively Useless.

The valuations of ALL of the BIG Tech companies could take a 1/3 hit over this !

And it could play out for a year OR two.
