LOL okay, If you are trying to convince yourself not to get the iPhone X I understand. It is a lot of money.

You should do something with your ''smart'' conclusions, you really should.

(I allready have my mind set on the X. But still like to stay objective and most of all realistic)

Not sure I see this way, but we'll see more when it comes out. For me, the steps are like this... Face ID - pick up the phone, swipe to get to home screen. Touch ID - pick up the phone, press the home button to get to the home screen.

I think if you mainly have your iPhone X on a table during the day, then FaceID could be faster and more efficient.

I take my iPhone out of my pockets maybe like 40 times a day, in that case FaceID will never be more efficient/faster then TouchID. Well, at least for now and how Apple presented it at the Keynote at the SJ Theatre.
I truly believe it will be more efficient/faster in the (far) future by software updates

TouchID is like a unopened can of beer. You have to physically open it up and drink.
FaceID is like an already opened bottle of wine. You just pour it in the glass and swipe, err.. bring it up to your lips and drink.

Why would taking the phone our of your pocket and swiping up be less fast than taking it out of your pocket and pressing the home button?

haha I dont wanna make it bigger then it is, please believe me.

But in my daily personal iPhone usage, I really THINK it will be faster and/or more efficient then FaceID as I earlier explained.

Its funny, first TouchID was King, and now Apple was not able to put the TouchID under the screen and now FaceID all of the sudden is King or becoming King.

In my honest opinion, thats just marketing 101

I don't know, maybe I don't worry about these things as much as others. I'll pick up my phone and swipe to open, I don't see it as being difficult or slower or any of that. We had the same worries about Touch ID before it came out and now we can't live without it. Marketing or not, I see this going the same way. In all the hands on videos, it worked very fast. Sort of a non issue for me. To each their own.

Hopefully they give you the option to eliminate the swipe to show the home screen (seems pointless).

Those saying this will be better with wet hands...umm...so, the iPhoneX won't recognize your wet finger trying to swipe after unlocking (likely) :) Still need a dry digit first. :)

Everyone hated touchID when it came out too. They said it would be too slow and take extra work.

Really? I cant remember that exactly.

I thought this FaceID is far much discussed as the current TouchID. I could be wrong ofcourse.

but then again;

Apple always had the best marketing in the business. Whether or not the product is useful is another story.

I understand that people think it is going to be slower, but what I don't understand is why people are not willing to give themselves a chance to adapt to a new technology.

We used to have to press the home button and then swipe to unlock, then we had to press our finger to touch ID, then we had to physically press the home button when they removed slide to unlock. We adapted to all those changes just fine and this will be no different. Pressing the home button is now done with a swipe so the only difference is that they are authenticating your face instead of your finger, and just like we always have we will adapt just fine.

Exactly, people are complaining Apple's done nothing innovative in a long while, and when they do look at the reaction.

I certainly like new technologies.
But this is a €1159/$1000 technology test for a complete new technology

You can test it for 14 days, any day later and you wont see your money back (full refund) from Apple.
Ofcourse, you can sell your iPhone and loose a few hundred dollar/euro

People were very weary of using Touch ID for security reasons and for speed reasons. A lot of people felt it could never work well. Same with Face ID.

Opening a can of soda/beer and drink it directly ( = TouchID ) or opening a can of beer/soda, pour it into a glass and then drink it ( = FaceID )

which is faster?

its not that difficult to understand, right? :p

I don't get the analogy?!

I also don't get the ipX.

No TouchID and Gen1 FaceID. And that ugly notch!

ipX == no buy

No buy and no thanks. Wait for Sept 2018. Hope for better.

I am not sure how that applies here, but okay.

For more then a $1100 (256Gb model) smartphone with a technology used never before, I think its not that weird that there are consumers who have serious doubts, when it comes to FaceID.
New owners will be testbunnies for Apple, expensive testbunnies.

Again, you just have only 14 days to adjust to the complete new gestures, huge notch, FaceID and other new stuff.
Let's say you couldnt adjust after 24 days, then there you go....no way Apple will give you a 100% refund. You could sell the X yourself and loose a few hundred euro/usd/gbp

Some people are okay with everything (any product) Apple throws at them for almost any price, and some other people are very critical for a smartphone priced at $1000/€1359 (a price never seen before with any smartphone)

I thought this was settled, FaceID is fast if it isn’t fast enough for you and it is causing you to lose too many milliseconds every day return it.

If it is worse than you expected then return it, or just wait for the iPhone XS.

by saying ''FaceID is fast'', you mean: ''for me FaceID is fast enough'', right?

Well you have strong opinions on it based off speculation. How about waiting for it to hit the shelves and then start bitching? Got a feeling you will be eating crow.

bitching? really? ow okay.... my apologies I am not talking ''everything is hosanna'' about your holy Apple company.

have a good one! ;)

(I am still very excited for the X, but refuse to be only in some sort of constantly ''Apple hosanna mood'')

I don't share my bottle. So it's not a problem.

that's just selfish! :p
