For more then a $1100 (256Gb model) smartphone with a technology used never before, I think its not that weird that there are consumers who have serious doubts, when it comes to FaceID.
New owners will be testbunnies for Apple, expensive testbunnies.

Again, you just have only 14 days to adjust to the complete new gestures, huge notch, FaceID and other new stuff.
Let's say you couldnt adjust after 24 days, then there you go....no way Apple will give you a 100% refund. You could sell the X yourself and loose a few hundred euro/usd/gbp

Some people are okay with everything (any product) Apple throws at them for almost any price, and some other people are very critical for a smartphone priced at $1000/€1359 (a price never seen before with any smartphone)

I don't see it as that complicated. Technology moves forward, there will always be new features/tech being added to our devices. In this case, the technology seems to be expensive to manufacture at a large scale, so prices are driven up. Apple isn't forcing anyone to buy this product and if you don't like Face ID, the notch, or the new gestures, then you shouldn't buy one and become one of their "test bunnies." You can't fault them for releasing the tech though, right? Or pricing it higher considering their costs are higher (apparently margins are smaller here than the 7). They are a business, that's it. Take it or leave it.

1. Try Touch ID, it fails.
2. Remove sweat from fingers, it fails.
3. Clean the home button with your shirt, now it works.

I much prefer the phone just to scan my face.

I often have sweaty fingers during summer or even little bits of water on my finger from washing my hands during the day.... 8 out of 10 times TouchID is working perfectly fine here on my iPhone 7.

And when touch ID first was introduced people bitched and moaned about the accuracy and failures.

true.

But dont you think the technology behind the FaceID is much, much more complex then a ''simple'' fingerprint scanner (TouchID)??

And that's what I mean with being a testbunny. I think (and could be completely wrong ofcourse) the first few coming months with FaceID can have more issues then the first few months when TouchID was being used

It may be, but Apple typically does a really good job with things like this. Touch ID wasn't perfect when it was introduced (and Face ID won't be either), but I think we should take a wait and see approach. From everything I have seen, it works well. In every situation? That remains to be seen. I just can't say that Touch ID is so much better than Face ID before we get it in our hands. If it works well, it could be that much better.

I like your optimism when it comes to FaceID (no joke). Cause I am still torn between a iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X

You are always so optimistic when it comes to the iPhone X.
Can join me please to my nearest Apple Store so you can pick my new iPhone? ;)

Well I totally get people's concerns / uneasiness about change, but I guess I have always been pretty open to change and generally happy with what Apple has implemented (not everything, but nothing I can't work around). Being okay with change and what I view as significant upgrades to the iOS platform, I will be going with the X. I just simply adapt and move forward. I suggest you do the same, take it in stride, and get the X (as an Apple shareholder, I approve haha).

Ah okay, you're an Apple shareholder...this clear things up, like your "love" for the iPhone X.

Working with a double agenda, right? ;)

Haha it's honestly just a good stock to hold onto, but I am still happy with the X overall. Looks awesome from all the hands on videos.

I think faceID was a pretty big matzo ball apple put out there.

Apple has taken a ton of hits being the manufactured of yesterday's technology.
They broke the mold when they said, no more cd drives. Many screamed.
Then 30 pin to lightning and loss of certain analog A/V functions. many screamed
Then removal of the headphone jack on the 7 series (I now applaud this) Many screamed including myself. Now I can't fathom the thought of an annoying cable flopping around.
On the MBP one type of port, we all know we have wondered why there are so many different ports. When apple gave it to us, many screamed "great now I need to lug a hub around", me included. Hub makers are raking it in but in a couple years there little niche will be dried up as the TB3 moves to the standard.

I think the above caused the consumer a little discomfort but ultimately changed us for the better.

Face recognition - Bold marketing move. My thoughts are that version 2 and possibly version 3 is already being developed and or tested. It's here to stay and will get better. Many are wondering with doubt, myself included.
More complex technology? Absolutely.

More issues that tough ID. I remember having a high failure rate at the onset. Having to delete and redo fingers seemed to be common. Thinking about it today, the fingerprints in the phone are the same fingerprints used when I purchased the phone nearly a year ago.

I've upgraded every year since the 3G but this year I am siting out the upgrade.
I wanted the Ceramic LTE watch more than a new phone. Now if there is a compelling phone/watch function only found on a particular phone, I may pony up the cash.

There is no better way to test a technology or product than releasing it to the idiot consumer.
