Almost every day. Just for a minute or two mostly. Probably has a lot to do with anyone I care about having the phone and having wifi almost everywhere thanks to the cable service public wifi.

The thread is about Facetime, not THAT. :D

Get your mind out of the gutter, man!:D

Gutter.

I've used it once, since I got my iPhone. My wife might want to get an iPhone now after seeing it in action, since she can talk with the family easier. BTW, so nice to be able to Facetime via 3G, since I'm jailbroke.

Nice to be able to, but no one to do it with.:p

Have you tried it via 3G? How's the quality? I'd imagine it would be a touch choppy.....

i use it most the time..works great over 3G here in my area i have pretty good 3G speeds and its pretty good quality..im getting to know more people with iphone 4s...i do video chat with droid friends as well..i like it...sometimes when im at the store they call me to buy something and i dont know what it looks like i turn on facetime then there like yup thats it..:D

Too few of my friends have it for it to be actually useful (only 4). Good thing one of them is abroad, so I can see her for free almost anywhere nowadays :D

It wasn't choppy at all, at least the one time I tried it, since I wanted to test it on 3G. It was better than Skype on wifi, which actually is choppy at times and freezes.

Ok maybe novelty is the wrong term... niche market I guess

If they wanted this thing to really be revolutionary they would have used a universal client that can talk to other devices, and works on 3G

for the rest of us, with computers, laptops, webcams, etc its an inferior way of webchatting

After today's release of Facetime for the Mac, it's on the way. I can see Facetime for Windows sooner or later, and I wouldn't be surprised if Facetime for Android pops up in the future.

I have been wanting to use it since launch but none of my friends or family own a IP4 yet. I was finally able to use it with my parents(who live across the country) today with the beta release of the Mac facetime. I haven't seen them in months and it was great being able to easily chat with them while I was roaming around. I gave them a "tour" of my new place and they just loved it. This is of course nothing revolutionary, but it's this newish spin on older tech that have interested more of the masses into video chatting.

I agree. I used on 3g, and the quality was really nice.

I thought facetime was pretty stupid, and the commercial where they try to to make it all sentimental, only made not want to use it more. But this past week I used it for the first time with my parents and sister who live across the country from me. Because of my job I only see them once maybe twice a year. The look of joy on my mom's face was she saw me really got me. I can see this being a good thing. But its never something I want to do with my friends.

I have an iPhone 4 and have yet to use Facetime because none of my friends have iPhones! I feel odd asking if someone wants to try it, but I guess thats the only way I'll be able to try it.

So anyone?

Hey

FaceTime?

i just downloaded this app call ftfun from the app store.. very cool app that allow you to facetime with people from all around the world.. good thing for me since no friends of mined have the iphone 4 :)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; sv-se) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

I've used it a couple of times, will probably use it more when they lift the ridiculus 3G restriction, and make it available on other phones (i recall steve saying it was an open standard) then it could probably catch on

You guys are making me feel old with all this talk of FaceTime with your girlfriends or your kids. Both my daughters have iP4s and they use them to keep me in touch with my grandkids when I'm abroad! To my mind, Apple have taken a fairly straightforward concept which has never really taken off, and just made it work. Great!
