jailbreak ftw!

don't ever tell me that i can't mod my phone if i want. if it screws everything up and voids my warranty, then so be it! it's mine.

wow, gonna have to jailbreak my phone again. I'm curious that at&t doesn't just filter this traffic.

I have never jailbroken anything before, but this alone will get me to do it.

Will this also allow YouTube videos to play in wifi quality over 3G?

You can already watch YouTube in wifi quality by just going to the YouTube site in Safari instead of the app. The site works much better anyway than the app.

If you looked close, the quality was very jerky... not fluid like when on WiFi. All they're doing is getting it to work on the 3G system. Cool for sure. But I'm sure there is a reason phone people don't want this.

Also... watch your WiFi router when Facetime is running... goes nuts... I'm guessing FaceTime on 3G will burn up your MB's if you don't have unlimited. So be careful. :)

Why can't you make facetime calls over 3g anyways?

AT&T I guess... and the quality is just "so low" because of the bandwidth (obviously).. so while apple MAY does not allow it because of poor quality, it all comes down to the available bandwidth (AT&T)

So true

There is a reason AT&T doesn't allow it on 3G, because their network is not good enough to support the bandwidth. All this does is pull down the network for the rest of us.

+1

Jailbreaking is great and all but it will affect the already strained network in some areas.

As someone said earlier, AT&T isn't the only carrier, and none of them allow it.

Wow, that's pretty awesome. I still have no reason to jailbreak even with this added ability, but it's still good to know it's possible.

I'm sure AT&T is just thrilled at this news. Something tells me this isn't the end of the story, that somehow AT&T will figure out a way to detect this and block it. However it's certainly going to be a very small percentage of users trying facetime on 3G. You have to jail break it and also have a use for the facetime gimmick.

is any one else bother by this?

the jailbreak community is the first one that complains about network overload, and yet, here they are... att is not ready for this folks.

I suppose that we all know that social consciousness is not a virtue of jailbreak community.

I wonder what are those government idiots that 'legalized' jailbreak saying now?

i hope they do for the better of every one else...

It is not Apple fault it is not available over 3G but provider's one. If you use FaceTime over 3G you just put in trouble Apple and probably they will lock Facetime in another way.

The jailbreak community trumps the rest of us aka they deserve nothing but the best, first.
So have some respect while they "have a right to have it, it's their phone" while bogging the AT&T network down and taking away from you.

I haven't noticed that. But my beef is when I'm browsing and want to watch an embedded video, it uses the YouTube app to view it. Very annoying.

I can handle the jerkiness if it allows me to talk to my family face to face, wherever I am. Also, I do have the unlimited plan so no worries there.
